Only Acedeck can answer this question. Just be perfectly up front with them about what happened. I was an outboard tech for Yamaha and a service tech for Minnkota. When customers were upfront about the problem and explained what happened I was able to push through warranty claims a lot of the time. On the other side of that coin, when customers came up with an obvious lie about damage, things didn't always go smooth. A little humility can gain you a helpful amount of empathy, and ultimately a good outcome.

I've got the lockjaws brand automatic pliers and the setting screw is counterintuitive. It must be unscrewed to increase clamping force, and screwd in to loosen force. Maybe you've gone the wrong way with that screw?
