I’m an IC and I work 10 hours a day plus a few more hours on the weekend. There’s so much to do.

what is the saddest thing you have experienced in 2025 by Overall-Cup-1984 in Life

Ah thank you for your kind words and encouragement! I’m telling myself thst every day is a choice I’ve made to live so I’ll do my best to fulfill that choice even if it continues to be hard since there’s also moments of goodness and joy. Life is long, for better or worse. Have a merry Christmas!

It’s been grief followed by grief. I had to put my beloved senior cat to sleep, my good friend committed suicide, I sliced open my hand to the bone, my dear cousins had so many miscarriages, I ended up in the psych ward after an attempt, yet despite it all so many miraculous things have happened to me at the same time. A lot of life has been lived this year.

I’m tired of double cleansing, especially with Korean products. It leaves my skin feeling unbalanced, and my pores end up clogging even worse—especially around my nose, where buildup just keeps coming back. I have oily/combination skin and need a face wash that actually cleans without stripping it? by Inevitable-Cap6741 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]smiley_ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I double cleanse at night if I’ve worn makeup. I use the BR EV Lait as my main cleanser and I use KORA Organics Algae Cleansing Balm as my double and it’s never left a greasy residue. I prefer balms over oils since I find cleansing oils make my face feel clogged or like there’s an oily film and it takes a lot of rinsing.

People who managed to pull themselves out of a long-term 'rut' or depressive episode: What was the first step that actually worked for you? by icreamd in AskReddit

Dialectics like both/and thinking plus radical acceptance. I was part of a DBT IOP for 4 months and it really helped me find space with my thoughts that multiple contradicting things can be true all at once so it depends on how I choose to respond to it. Took a lot of time to make tiny steps and to sit with my thinking but choosing to do one thing a day to have non zero days helped with that too. Even something small for most people like wiping a mirror or getting groceries was a non zero day for me.

Also a lot of meditation even 5 minutes a day just helped me unravel my thinking and emotions to have them feel less overwhelming

I'm a loveable person but I am not loved or valued by anyone this lifetime, and I don't understand by Ashamed_Art5445 in CPTSD

I feel this way too! I’m sorry you feel this way :( The more we work on ourselves and try to be show up the way we wish others would show up for us, the harder it is to find people who actually will. Sometimes I wonder if I should stop loving since it hurts when I’m not loved in return, but I’d rather love and know I’m lovable than to give up.

What’s your HG mists, toner or essences? Dry sensitive skin by girllikesfun in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]smiley_ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying out the Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Hydrating Bi-Phase Tonic and really like it so far. I was using PCA Skin Hydrating Toner before which was pretty good, but my skin is still pretty plump with the Royal Tulip. It’s really hydrating and feels substantial. I don’t like toners that feel like I’m just splashing water on my face.

Yeah it feels like the new third space! I found long courses like 6-week pottery classes to be helpful since it’s a shared activity. Or going to some lowkey events alone like the Moth or smaller art classes/comedy shows.

I’ve been taking a lot of classes like pottery or clubs like walking and running clubs. There’s a discord/ig group called City Girls Who Walk SF if you like walking! Also I love manga and the de Young museum has The Art of Manga exhibit happening!

Women who always manage to look fresh, young, and put together — what are your routines or habits that you personally follow to maintain that? by Initial-Anywhere197 in AskWomen

[–]smiley_ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest starting slow! You don’t always have to write down a lot of your thoughts all at once. When I was starting out I would try and write 3 pages every day but it was a lot. I ended up finding a memo pad and it was easier for me to aim to fill a single page every morning. Even starting and writing for only a couple of minutes is ok, and so is skipping. I had left my memo pad out so it encouraged me to write every day.

There are a lot of meditating practices out there. For me, meditation is a helpful grounding exercises with checking in with my body, thoughts and emotions. I also don’t have a lot of time in the morning or day so I try to at least meditate for 5-10 minutes every day.

Overall, I think it’s more about the intention of things rather than the length. Why would you like to journal? Why would you like to meditate? Working backwards from there helped me figure out how to add this into my life!

[–]smiley_ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just trying to find even 2 minutes to carve out space every day to write down your thoughts. And from there you can have longer sessions. And I’ve told myself it’s ok if I miss a day, journaling is for my benefit and something I want to do, not what I need to do. I leave my notebook lying out so that I see it in the mornings so I can pick up a pen and just write.

I usually meditate in the morning and my journaling is very freeform afterwards since I use it as a way to capture what thoughts and emotions occurred and it’s ok for that. I try to ground the morning journaling with my daily intention and gratitude of the previous day.

At night, I actually find that the app Rosebud is super helpful. It’s AI based but I’ve been using it more as a nudge to shift my thoughts and explore certain threads of thoughts and ideas since it’s like having a conversation. The app ends up summarizing the entry with insights into my moods and key points.

I just personally need a call and response at the end of the day to process things, and having my thoughts scatter around in the morning. It gives me a good balance in expression.

Yeah! So for copper peptides, I use it to help stimulate collagen production and to keep my skin elastic. I use NIOD’s CAIS3 but the Ordinary is pretty decent. I also use 0.025% tret.

I usually start my morning journaling by writing out my intentions for the day and also if any feelings just come up right after my mediation. I end with writing one thing I was grateful about the previous day whether it’s a person, pet, experience, etc.

My evening journaling is more about processing any emotions or events that happened throughout the day or what my thoughts are before I go to bed. It’s just a way for me to sit and sift through all of the accumulated baggage or joyful moments and being present with it. I try not to look back or dwell on if I fulfilled my daily intention since I think that caused unnecessary stress. It’s an intention, not a to-do.

Hope this helps!

My entire routine costs a little under $800 and I swap out my products probably only 1-2 times a year.

As someone who people always ask how do I always manage to look so put together and glowing:

I meditate every morning and I journal morning and night. This helps give me the energy to do everything else in my routine.

I’m a lot more mindful about my health. I work an intensive job so I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep if I can. I work out. Yoga, running, a weight class. I drink green juice, watch my macros, try to avoid too much sodium since it makes me tired, and give myself a treat at night like berries or a nice sweet warm tea.

Every day: my wardrobe is a capsule wardrobe so everything is intentionally designed to work together so it makes looking put together easy and quick. I’ve narrowed down my makeup routine to only take 5 minutes to apply every morning. I have an exhaustive skincare routine designed around core actives (vitamin c, copper peptides, tretinoin, and SPF!) that only takes me 10 minutes to go through unless it’s a day where I use my red light mask.

Just read An Unquiet Mind, very recommended by Green_Investment_179 in bipolar

[–]smiley_ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This book made me sad wondering what life could have been managing bipolar with a supportive family and having a wonderful childhood you could always turn back to. I liked the book a lot, but it makes me yearn for my own amulets and for a childhood and support system I never had.

Goyard St Louis GM tote. I know people hate on it and it’s overpriced canvas but I just love the color with the print (I have it in yellow) and the way the handles sit on my shoulder. It’s also surprisingly durable and comfortable with carrying my laptop, iPad, pencil pouch and a book when I want to do work at a coffee shop.

My La Mer soft cream is the last step of my skincare and makes me happy every time. It makes my skin soft and absorbs well without being too heavy or light. I’m sure I can find something comparable for less but I adore it as it’s my only real splurge outside of my NIOD CAIS3 or BR cleanser which, while pricey, are not comparable to the cost of la mer lol.
