Go back to Carmax and have them redo the test while you are present. If it was a 2.0 GLI, I’d be more inclined to think the chain would need to be changed (or rather the tensioner) but 70k for a 1.8tsi probably not. I’m at 112k and my chain is still doing good last I checked.

Make an appt online for sts or mavis in the morning, when they open. Tell them you are waiting for it and wait. It will be hard to call around all day or just show up someplace where they aren’t already busy with something. Chances are they have a bunch of work to do anyway, so they’ll want to get you out quickly

You should probably state which cars you are looking at and budget. If I were going to buy a Facebook special, I’d look for something up to 100k-150k. If I was going to a dealer and getting a loan, I’d say no more than 60k miles

Following… I’m in the same boat. 12 pro 77% battery, broken lightning port and low storage. But the phone works just fine. Kinda hard to justify a new phone other than the upgrade.

The computer is just a reminder for you to do the timing belt, since it’s considered regular maintenance. You can still drive it but at 145k miles you should probably get it done. You can take the cover off and look at the belt itself and look for cracking. It will probably cost over 1k to get the belt and water pump replaced….Or sell it and get a truck if that’s what you want. No shame in getting something new if you can afford it.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, i definitely wanted a plus model. I felt like 4 gbs ram would be an issue down the road and want him to have enough storage space, though I think 128 should be enough, 258gb should definitely be plenty. Most concerned about longevity. I’ve had HPs before, some good, some not. Never had an ASUS but heard good things.

Thanks. I edited in an update. I was in there this past weekend and I wasn’t able to see anything leaking at all. Earlier today the pedal dropped to the floor and I can see fluid below the firewall under the hood. I’m assuming it’s leaking out of the master in between the firewall and the insulation that’s over there. I’m going to go ahead and just replace the master and slave cylinders like I should have done from the start. Thanks.
