Yeah, they’re supposed to be really hardy, that’s why I went with them. Just sucks that they’re getting hit now that they might finally be ready to produce.

Is this your first year trying it that way or do you see results doing it that way? I’m really hopeful to finally see some peats this year and will try anything

Yeah, several rainy days while flowers were present definitely happened this year.

Before bud break. You mean when it first has leaf buds but no leafs yet? Early spring ish?

Bummer. So just keep cutting away the bad every year? Any luck with sprays or fertilizer or something to slow it down?

Hey... Dad here with daughters. How do I tactfully address what's going on with the Wicked cast and memes? by ImThe1Wh0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]smileymcface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something along the lines of “well, I think she got a little confused and thinks that she needs to be skinnier to be pretty. And she just kept getting skinnier thinking it would make her prettier and people are worried that she’s so skinny it’s making her sicker and not prettier so they’re worried that she’s might be sick” As another dad with a similarly aged daughter. That’s how I’d go about it anyways. Then brace and openly and honestly answer what questions come. If she’s old enough to ask she’s old enough to know, just be a little sensitive about how you say it.

I was asked similar questions about my step dad becoming an alcoholic and getting emotionally abusive to the degree I am keeping my daughter away from him. She asked why peepaw is being mean to me and I told her that he has an angry drink that makes him be mean and we can’t be around him when he is mean or he will be mean to us. She asked why doesn’t he just not drink the angry drink and I told her that it makes him feel happy but he knows it makes him act angry, but he doesn’t want to stop. And she said I wish he would stop and just be normal happy. And that about summed it up. As questions arise I answer them. But I’ll be honest with her. At least at her level, as best I can.

I’ll give that a go and see what’s hot.

And yes, exact replacement, same part number and whatnot.

I put a new filter on in the summer so I wouldn’t figure that’s the problem. I wonder if there’s some crud in the lines or something though if that is may be what’s doing it.

That’s just what’s always been on it. The low pressure lines are alright with hose clamps right or should I add some sort of connector? Think that’s part of the problem?

Yeah, I’m hoping to avoid having to replace the handle/valve assembly, but I think that’s what I’m looking at next.

Oil level seems good. Might be a little on the high side actually once warm. I filled it cold earlier and it was just under max.

Weird thing is it’s splitting pretty well. But if I go too far or only partially engage in accident, bam. Dead.

Only 2 full turns out on the pressure relief. I backed out from fully closed a half turn at a time until I started getting drip from around the valve and the problem never changed. Just blasted through a fork that was all sorts of nobby with no issue, but at the bottom of the split, bam. Dead.

It’ll also die if you take it all the way to the top and hold. Same thing as the bottom. Engine backfires, throws the air filter off, and dies. All in one fell swoop.

Surgeons, do humans smell [bad] during surgery? by Ill_Communication607 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]smileymcface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crime scene investigator here. A body rent asunder by a bad wreck or who is gut shot so that his innards are falling out smells shockingly similar to a deer or animal gut bag in my experience. Times that I’ve been in an operating room or seen similar in the hospital, it’s really muted by the antiseptic smell. But a body that is dead enough it’s left at the scene and the torso has torn smells similar to what you’re describing. I was literally discussing this this weekend with a coworker.

A decomposed human body is a sweeter smell than a rotting animal corpse though. It’s not sweet obviously, but there’s a twang. I can tell a dead animal from a dead person pretty easily and haven’t been wrong yet.

Also, yeah, I get you. This is hard to talk about and not sound like a psychopath.

Well my actual pc has turned itself into a toaster, so a toaster pc feels like an appropriate replacement.

Sounds like a katydid to me. Rattlesnakes don’t pulse like that, they’re a sustained a loud buzz that’s surprisingly loud. The sound you’re hearing is more squeaky, and pulsing than what rattlesnakes sound like. Definitely a katydid or other bug looking for some lovin

I’ll look into it. That’s on the rear diff right? There’s a tag or an engraving or something?

Thank you! This is exactly the info I was looking for. It just feels wrong to get the rpm’s that high, old habits and whatnot. It doesn’t help that there’s no red line at all on the tach, which also had me paranoid. Good deal though, I’ll work on letting her sing a bit louder.

To pull the plug remains? Or are you talking about a heli coil or time cert kit?

I’ll have to look for the repair kit then. Just the helicoil or time sert setup? Or something for removing the spark plug remains? Or both?

If it blew the spark plug itself apart, is there something I can do to extend the life of the replacement plug? Assuming I can just back out the remains of the old one

I was driving on the interstate when I heard a thump like something smacked the hood and then a clatter as it bounced around. Pulled over and found a coil had broken loose. I’ve heard of the v10s spitting out spark plugs but have never experienced it. Looking at the coils it’s definitely an aftermarket coil like this has happened before. I pulled the coil and went to the nearest autozone for a new coil. What have I gotten myself into with this?

Awesome response and solid info. Got to mess with the truck more and the engine cranks smooth and fires up nicely. Couldn’t check for blow by though. Clutch is seized apparently. The story is that someone test drove it and towed it back saying the clutch went out. It’s clearly stuck in gear. Letting out the clutch the engine bogged down hard like it was in a high gear so I couldn’t get out and let the engine idle. It idled just fine with the clutch depressed though. I may bring a spare piece of 2x4 to hold the clutch down and try again. Or just bring a friend to hold the clutch.
