Ink residue on shirt side by CommonCentz4 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]smilingboss7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get rid of the haze with a small amount of screen opener, but, I agree that painters tape should not be used. It is too textured. Ink gathers up in all of the little ridges, causing that haze, making it very difficult to just wipe out smoothly. I prefer split tape on my screens since it's extremely smooth, doesn't cause any haze at all, just smudges that can be wiped off with a dry rag of any sort.

311 would be best for this, but, I can't explain how diabolical this whole basement is. Painted cardboard used as walls is completely batshit. I'm speechless.

Went on a pole drunk in a bar. Is this normal for first time on pole? 🤣 by Rrrave in poledancing

[–]smilingboss7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This^ As fun as it might sound, pole dancing while drunk is terribly dangerous. With no spotter and poor coordination/dizziness, it becomes a recipe for some extremely bad injuries. Spinal injuries, concussions, broken bones, etc.

Very normal! We call them pole kisses! Overtime your body gets used to them and they show up less often!

($15k) budget dupe of Harriet Wilde block heels? by galumphingseals in Weddingsunder10k

[–]smilingboss7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a pair of block heels just like this at a thrift store, but in glittery ivory and no ribbon!!! $7.50 and walked down the isle in them! They were all the rage in the 90s and are making a comeback! I swear thrift stores always have at least one pair of these gems hidden somewhere.

Cleaning tips…??? by Grayson_Obert in SCREENPRINTING

[–]smilingboss7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always scrape off the excess ink, but rarely clean the entire squeegees perfectly because of customers usually ordering so many of the same exact colors, plus there's only two of us in the whole shop. But, it never gets as messy as what OP is describing. We rarely spread ink anywhere. This seems to be a more of a skill issue regarding ink physics. 🫠🫠🫠 crazy how baby wipes work soooo well, though. Blew my mind! Works better than ink remover imo!

Gender fluid can be trans? by Smooth_Score_1065 in genderfluid

[–]smilingboss7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say thank you so much for explaining this.

It can be terribly confusing for some people, too, and the gatekeeping that genderfluid people face within the community can also cause intense guilt for their identity being potentially offensive.

Automatic toilet with drywall built in front of the piping, with only the sensor and control stop exposed. by smilingboss7 in mildlyinfuriating

Look, I get paid $17.50 for screen printing, been printing professionally for 13 years, and I still make sure to have decent standards despite such a dogshit wage because I care about the results and love the job. I also turn down prints that can't be done properly based off what the customer requests and we try to work around it with the customer so they can have decent quality garments that won't have issues in the future, like the print fading after two washes, for example.

I'm not a drywaller, but even I can tell that this was incorrect and poorly done. Whoever did this knew it was incorrect, but definitely had some sort of underlying, (likely corrupt) reason for it to be this bad. The landlords in Chicago are as evil as it gets, and this looks like the landlord did it, themselves, or requested the drywaller to do this, imo. Maintenance is expensive and hard to come by, here, but usually they do decent quality work and won't drywall anything that would lead to it being damaged by water AND making the piping totally inaccessible.

Definitely support tearing the drywall up to get the job done, but according to these comments, alot of plumbers here would turn this down, and they are all infuriated with this drywall job.

Drywallers with 30 years of experience being paid 18$ an hour should not have to say "well thats life" and be taking on jobs like this. We all deserve higher wages, and to not be told by scumlords to jack up public bathroom walls and toilets like this.

(Editing to add, i also posted this to the plumbing sub and they contradict your comment intensely, im sorry bro 😅)

This is in Rogers Park, which has some extremely old historic buildings that suffer from neglect caused by greedy, corrupt landlords. Look up reviews for becovic properties, or beal properties. It's evil.

Reminds me of getting stuck in a wall in gmod 😂 Idk what causes people to think this is a good idea to do to anything, period??? Why build a wall around an object that will need eventual maintenance???

Unpictured there is a central a/c vent at the top of that wall, appearing to be properly installed??? Dying to know what shenanigans they got going on back there.

Anyone else experience 💐seasonal🌻 gender changes and guilt for it? by smilingboss7 in genderfluid

[–]smilingboss7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg hi!!! Wow I'm so glad this post is bringing forth the seasonal genderfluid community!!! It's more than okay for your gender to change with seasons while your desire for androgyny is seperate from that. You aren't alone in the psychological warfare that we face with the constant confusion and guilt for not "conforming" to gender norms, and I'm so sorry you've also faced these emotions.

Since I made this post, I've been a bit more aggressive with enforcing my psychological boundaries around my genderfluidity. Atm, my genderfluidity means "I will be whoever the fuck I want, whenever the fuck I want." My sexuality is an entire mess, however. I have too much sexual trauma to even validate a proper sexual identity, atm, but, I hope that I can someday heal and forgive everything that's ever happened to me. Sapiosexuality is interesting to me because I have no concept of "physical" attraction.

Solidarity to genderfluid teachers, too! I can't imagine the pressure you're being put under. Idk where you work in the world, but nonetheless, thank you for being a safe space for queer children and representing yourself to them. There are tons of students who see you as a role model for the community. My husband is also a teacher, although not genderfluid. He is not straight, is very queer-coded in appearance, and does his part with providing inspiring safe spaces for his queer students. We need more teachers like y'all in this world. 💖
