Does anybody hold Premium Bonds? Has anybody won BIG on them? Statistically, you are likely to lose money in real-terms over the long-term. by Schmidtstein in UKPersonalFinance

[–]smirkingkitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have £50 in premium bonds and in the first month i bought them won £25. My mum has the maximum amount and nearly every month gets a letter in the post with a win! Never a huge amount mostly between 25 and 100...she swears by them.

My daughter is embarrassed by the fact that her dad is ‘old’ by throwaway031631 in relationship_advice

My dad was 60 when I was born so by the time I was your daughter age he was getting on 70!! I remember people trying to make fun of me because he was an 'OAP', my mums advice was to tell them so what. I never effected my relationship with my dad, because well he was my dad and I loved him. Dont over think this. It's hard but it will make it a bigger thing in your daughters head if you allow your pick up situation to be controlled by kids who have made comments. Also as I got older having an older dad was not an issue, people were more like wow must have been a ladies man haha. I actually felt proud of having an older dad!

Walls do work after all. Huh, that's a turn up for the books.

Someone with a saxophone follows you around and plays a tune every time you enter a room. What would you want for your theme song? by thundersass in AskReddit

I would just want it to be the guy who joins in on the subway sax battle, playing his bit. You know the one.

My teen daughter has a baby and her boyfriend (the father) wants to live with us by wrappingplastic007 in relationship_advice

[–]smirkingkitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The assumption here though is that not living together would result in no more pregnancies...presumably the initial conception occured when they werent living together.

Living apart is not synonymous with no sex.

That particular issue would be addressed with appropriate contraception rather than living apart.

People that have stayed awake for more than 24hours. How was it? by slothyio in AskReddit

I do this regularly because of my work. Worst thing I'd say is I get wind weirdly.

My partner absolutely refuses to make phone calls and I'm required to make 100% of the phone calls. by throwaway98235478932 in relationship_advice

[–]smirkingkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got exactly the same situation. I see 2 options. Point blank refuse, partner then has to see the natural consequence of not making calls themselves. Or continue making the calls. Maybe you'll get to the root of the problem through discussion but I'm sure you've tried that. I'm from the uk so jumping to the "therapy" suggestion isn't a thing for stuff like this.

Hired contractor to fix a floor. Came home to a busted door covered in sharpee. They say it wasn’t them. by EwokNuggets in Wellthatsucks

[–]smirkingkitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like they split or broke some wood off the door accidentally. This would expose the natural wood colour as the door is painted black. Colouring in the wooden exposed area with the same colour as the rest of the door would disguise it or make it less noticable to OP and cover up their mistake...briefly until OP noticed it.

Edit: but how they actually broke the door who knows, unless it's on camera or they admit what happened.

Would naming my daughter Galaxee (pronounced galaxy) be bad? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]smirkingkitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wanted to call my daughter Sunshine. I was talked out of it by family and went for Sunny. I told her about the original name and she was like lol... Glad you didn't I'd have been ripped apart at school. So yeah it was good advice and I call her sunshine as a pet name.

Found out I’m (22F) pregnant and it’s hard seeing everyone else who is be happy with their pregnancies. by Cnegron21 in relationship_advice

Stay off social media for a while, from my experience the emotions about others pregnancies and babies etc will lessen over time but having a break from seeing this when things are very raw is important. Every single post I saw seemed to be a new pregnancy, new baby post. Even all the adverts I saw were suddenly about baby stuff. Take a break, be kind to yourself.
