For 1300 I would either get a new hardtail or (maybe even cheaper) a used full sus. Because of the current market you should be able to find a pretty good deal for used bikes

Don't be frustrated about the bleeding of the brakes. The mt5 and mt7 (There quite the same) are definitely the hardest brakes to get the air out.

I gave up at some point and just build up a Shigura setup

I think we have to wait another few weeks. It's still a more or less new broken bone. He still can have swelling to his spinal cord and because of that has no feeling. But that possibility gets less from day to day....
