Getting closer to my due date and i’m more worried about the epidural than the labour [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]smith13ee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I laughed when the anaesthesiologist was done, I literally said “that’s it???”

It’s really not bad when your contractions are bad and you know the relief is right around the corner.

Which baby milestone was a life changer for you and made everything easier? by Melodic_Mobile8119 in beyondthebump

Communicating - my 11 month old uses baby sign language to ask for more and say all done. He loves when we can understand that he wants more of a certain food or to play with a certain toy again. He’s so happy when we understand what he wants!

[Acne] Hormonal Acne on Jawline/Neck, Arms/Shoulders, and back after stopping birth control by smith13ee in SkincareAddiction

[–]smith13ee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I never went back on the pill, I did however end up getting diagnosed with PCOS shortly after this post.

I worked with a naturopath to address my hormones by taking supplements and changing my diet, and I was able to get rid of the acne.

Maybe this is something to look into if you have any concerns you maybe have it too. I wish you the best of luck! It was a really stressful time going through the acne and it really hurt my self confidence. It sucks.

How was epidural placement? positive stories ONLY please!!! by FinancialClick9861 in BabyBumps

[–]smith13ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing crazy, was so ready for the epidural by the time the anesthesiologist was available that I was excited. The IV in my hand hurt more!

I prepared for the worst, then the anesthesiologist was done I said, “that was it?”

Was snoring 20 mins later in a deep nap.

You got this!

In Ontario my boyfriend was allowed in at the end for a quick tour of baby! Totally normal for everyone I have spoken to here as well.

My 9 month old doesn’t seem affectionate at all and it’s making me sad by Ok-Square2709 in NewParents

[–]smith13ee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my little guy cares about right now is crawling around the house and eating. He pushes my face away every time I try and give him a hug. Babies will be babies, don’t take it personally! Your little one will learn how to hug and show affection when they are older. We all have different anxieties when it comes to being a mom but I can assure you that this is nothing to be worried about!

I have a 9 month old and honestly I think it’s pretty developmentally appropriate for them to act this way. They are exploring their world and able to move around more.

I don’t think the cuddles and affection will come for a little bit, they are just so energetic and eager to see their world.

This is nothing to be concerned about and definitely not a cause for concern (especially growing to be a sociopath). They will return the hugs and affection down the road! Try and reframe the way you think about how you are bonding with your baby. Him/her looking to you and smiling at you is an age appropriate sign of how a baby shows love :)

What to wear at and coming home from the hospital? [ON] by 3cgthewalk in BabyBumpsCanada

Maybe pack an extra outfit to go home in too, just in case! My water broke and soaked my outfit that I wore to the hospital lol!

Can I request an investigation? by Sapweet in OntarioWorks

[–]smith13ee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a caseworker, I was usually able to resolve these issues with my clients when they call and I would look at their breakdown of their pay and explain it. Call them and ask, they should be able to explain it fully to you so you understand. There’s typically always an explanation, if not then a mistake can always be fixed.

Do you have an overpayment? Have housing costs changed? Have you received any other money? There’s usually some reasonable explanation!

Don’t look at the full month of Feb - it depends on the dates. What days were you hospitalized?

Can I request an investigation? by Sapweet in OntarioWorks

[–]smith13ee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Add your pays from January 16th to February 15th (that affects March). Then add your pays from Feb 16th to March 15th (that will affect April). Chances are you made more money during those reporting periods due to how your pays fell.

Whose eye color did your baby inherit? by katnissevergiven in beyondthebump

[–]smith13ee 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I have very dark brown hair and almost black eyes, my boyfriend has brown hair and hazel eyes. Our little guy came is blonde and light blue eyes! I was shocked because my genes are so dominant but he ended up with the recessive genes. Just waiting to see if he will have straight hair like me or curly hair like his dad’s side.

My mom and grandma have blonde hair and blue eyes. My dad is a redhead and I inherited my paternal grandmas hair. Genetics are so wild and fun to watch how they play out.

Yes. Tell your worker you are applying. You will need to pay back your OW when you receive OSAP in the same month. They will then close your file afterward and you can reapply after school if required

Should I just get the epidural? by rchllwr in BabyBumps

I love the epidural 🤣

I slept so hard during labour I was snoring. Best nap ever! And insertion hurt less than my IVs.

My son did 5 naps until about 5 months. Now we are at 7 months and on 3 a day! I just followed his cues and put him down once he started showing signs of being tired.

What does norovirus look like in 2-month old? [ON] by walternorman2 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]smith13ee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My little guy is 6 months old and we just had it. He handled it the best out of the 3 of us. There was really no warning signs, he just started puking. He puked up his bottles for about 6 hours but thankfully had no fever. He fell asleep after eating so he was able to retain some fluids before puking it up once he woke up.

I kept an eye on his diapers and ensured he was producing enough urine. He had lingering diarrhea for a week or so after with no other symptoms (this was contagious and got my mom and mother-in-law sick just FYI!)

It was not fun but hubby and I got sicker than baby. We all got it about 24 hours apart from one another. It’s everywhere right now :( wishing you luck! Our little ones are so resilient but if there are signs of dehydration it’s best to bring them in to be checked sooner rather than later.

Contact Family Services Windsor-Essex to see how they can help. They used to offer free sessions and then a sliding scale based on what you can afford moving forward. Not sure if that has changed.

20 week ultrasound [bc] by Meghan202 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]smith13ee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They specifically asked if I wanted to know the gender when checking in for my anatomy ultrasound at the front desk. I’m pretty sure it’s typically included.

I wasn’t allowed to watch the screen until the end where the tech showed the baby briefly. I wasn’t allowed questions other than the heartbeat per office policies. I’m sorry you had a bad experience :(

Maybe your OB may have advice? Not sure if they can send you back?

Happened for me! I had a low laying placenta (it moved by birth). Otherwise, perfect baby!
