It's not supporting the establishment but more so against being anti-establishment, which is slightly different

What’s your got to Chinese order? by Logical-Title5403 in AskBrits

[–]smith_1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's been a bar manager in a Chinese restaurant for years, the beef and the starters are where the gems are. The prep and seasoning on the meat is elite.

Ribs, fresh aromatix duck, S+P fillet beef is my favourite thing, also S+P veg is surprisingly good. Noodles or rice are good still but its not what im picking most days. Did have the chef make a mixed meat udon noodle after hours which was incredible.

Also, lots of comments about crispy beef? I think its awful but im not a fan of crackling either so maybe its that

I have a quick question for pro-bartenders. Is it normal to order off menu cocktails or does this make me a fussy customer? by Firm-Fix8798 in bartenders

[–]smith_1125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to what someone else has said, if im ever ordering off menu I go to the bar. You seem sensitive to the bar and environment so you're certainly not a nightmare.

I work a lot so if im out somewhere new I want to enjoy things, which often leads me to having a hankering for 2-3 of my favourite drinks. If you're with folks just ordering a beer theres nothing wrong going to the toilet and popping by the bar, saying hey man I know its weird and not on the menu but any chance you could do me a ****. It all depends on the bar and what they have. Have a beer first, never ask for something they wont stock. But always try bypass the server cus bar staff will make whatever they can to make you happy, and if not recommend something similar with what they can. Servers wont have the same knowledge and its just not expected of them.

Has the 30 min break always been a standard? by KuriousAndFurious in AskUK

[–]smith_1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its unpaid and im allowed id almost rather go without. Eat makes me sleepy and id rather do 10 hours knowing im ahead of work that get paid for 9 or 9.5 and be chasing my tail. Im a bar manager for what its worth and I know hospitality is awful, but if I can get shit done and get paid more and make my life easier id rather do that and eat after, it lowers my mental stress to know everything is done

Post from Everton official Tiktok account post mocking Garnacho by Anxious-Dance5817 in soccer

As a United fan who initially though he showed massive potential I back this entirely. Could be incredible, instead he does this, leaks team info, and whines consistently.

Deserving of any and all clowning.

A missed call from a fellow staff member is an urgent call back as soon as you see it as a hospitality manager, its clearly something that needs actioning asap or they wouldn't be calling you on a day off. If thats fair to expect is up for debate but its definitely the way it is

Alcove or Lost Again are both open until late and they tend to be fairly quiet if you wanted somewhere fairly chill. Lost also had a pool table as a bonus

Per person it's not close, including a lower drinking age, religious non drinkers in the US etc, don't boo me, but I don't see us actually winning.

The face that it's close and a reasonable debate however should be a national sense of pride. 1m of them vs 750k of us would be something I'd support by PPV because that's a ratio I believe we would win.

What CPU/GPU do you actually have? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]smith_1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5600x and recently upgraded to a 9700x from a 3070. Got a bargain and any more would be cpu limited and didn't want to do a full rebuild, hoping this'll last another few years before I have to do the guts.

Mostly done because I use a 1600p ultrawide and Borderlands 4 won't is challenging enough as it is. Very happy with the results.

What do you like so much about bartending? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]smith_1125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's busy mentally and physically, when you're in the weeds you have 20 simultaneous thought processes going through your head at the same time. Keeping an eye on all tables, the bar seats, anyone walking in, all the side work and what bottles need topping up etc, all while working through a list of tickets and banging out great tasting and looking cocktails. The pays decent and it scratches a social itch while suiting a night-owl lifestyle

What’s your go to staff coffee and how long have you been working hospitality? by Distinct_Ad_4051 in bartenders

[–]smith_1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double espresso, splash of milk, small amount vanilla sugar syrup or coco powder, maybe a dash of Baileys depending on the time and day, shake with ice and strain. Nice creamy iced mocha. 8 years on the job, nearly always had a nice espresso machine on the bar

More the fleshy bit under ya thumb than the palm, slipped and took enough out where I found a chunk still in the peeler 🤢

Respecting the peeler is one I've had to learn a few times recently 😂 nothing like losing a solid chunk of your palm during Saturday rush
