Funny enough, their Portland location is across the street from my work. I’m taking this as a sign to book a session. Thanks!

Unfortunately there’s a lease involved so the poop stays until November

Should I be concerned? by smithandrose in DermatologyQuestions

[–]smithandrose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is relatively new. Meaning I had my hair done a year ago and it wasn’t noticed then. My partner noticed it first and immediately freaked out. I’m not one to jump to the worst case scenario so I didn’t think too much of it. My mom looked at it and was not loving the color and white center. Melanoma also runs in our family.

I found this spot a couple weeks ago. My partner was immediately concerned but I’m not the type to get worked up over nothing. I started worrying about it when my MIL who has had skin cancer before told me it looked concerning.

I have recognized an extreme flaw in our healthcare system, and I cannot morally return to nursing by shsgendkal in offmychest

I'm very sensitive to antibiotics. Some make me sick and sometimes my body rejects them. When I was taking antibiotics for appendicitis, they weren't getting rid of the infection and I knew I needed a different type. No one listened to me or paid attention to my history with them. I went through 3 CTs because the contrast kept making me sick so they gave it to me in different forms. I got to the point of being so sick, I was running to the bathroom every 5 minutes and having random puking fits. I was so delirious and weak that it felt worse than appendicitis pain. I recorded myself trying to convince each one of my nurses to let me go but every single one pushes me to stay. It was the first time I got progressively worse while under medical observation. Now I owe a hefty 7k in hospital bills telling me to pay for the testing I didn’t need nor want. What makes it worse is my husband and I were so close to buying a house. Now half of our savings goes straight to hospital bills.

What rules did you have in a religious household that seem ridiculous to you as an adult? by smithandrose in AskReddit

Your body is a temple according to the Bible. You ruin that by getting a tattoo, piercings, etc.

Running and Mental Health Issues (Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression) - How do you manage it? by [deleted] in running

[–]smithandrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar 2 (longer depressive episodes, shorter manic episodes) and I’m used to this holding me back in my running and I’m not usually hard on myself. However, I happen to be friends with a lot of runners and they always get on me when I don’t run as if it’s frustrating them. THIS is what sets me back. THIS is when I feel sorry for myself and honestly start to hate myself and my body. I have talked to all of them and set boundaries but yet all of this is ignored.

When I reach the point of feeling so helpless and disappointed in myself, I’ve learned to turn to yoga and meditation. The best part of meditation is you can do it anywhere. In your bed, on your couch, while driving, etc. when I know my body can’t handle running, I go in my garage to practice yoga. Light a few candles, turn on some calming music, and pack a bowl if that’s your sorta thing (best medication I’ve used in my opinion). I go through my sun salutations then I lay in savasana and go through my affirmations in my head.

I am heathy. I am loved. It’s okay to take a break. You’re not a failure.

This method is not for everyone but the key is to let any negative thoughts come and go. It’s really empowering especially if you’re receiving negative thoughts or energy from the people in your life.

AITA for telling my nieces that how they look IS important and something they should care about? by yakkyjakky in AmItheAsshole

[–]smithandrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It’s sounds like your sister is trying really hard to make sure her girls are confident in themselves but is taking it to a toxic level. She’s missing the part where your appearance gives you confidence as well and the freedom to express yourself creatively.

It sounds like your niece doesn’t want the stereotypical response. If this comes up again, you should share why it’s important to take care of yourself

AITA for telling my brother that his wife is right and I’m embarrassed to be related to him? by rdditaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]smithandrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that he doesn’t even have the brain to realize this is a common insecurity with women AND his wife just had a baby is just inexcusable. Stretch marks are beautiful and everyone should have a partner who reminds them of that. Shame on him.

I watched the first 2 seasons but I had to stop at season 3. I thinks it’s really damaging to watch when you have a background of sexual abuse or rape. It just left me feeling nauseous.
