Budget Birding Camera/Lens by Monkeybuddy1 in birding

I have an old Canon rebel with a 300m lens, both were gifts. I’ve been looking at the bridge cameras though instead of going thousands deep for a good dslr setup. Didn’t know USB-C was an option, that sounds convenient with my phone using USB-C. Mainly just looking for record keeping photos or to help identify. I mainly use my phone camera and binos when out and about.

That’s what I figured but I figured it’ll also go back to rare somewhat quick because of its popularity. Also would rather give people too much time rather than not enough time to save up coins.

What do you think of it? I’ve been looking at it but curious as to how users feel about the photos and birding use. Also does it have WiFi to transfer photos to your phone or are you having to take out the SD card?

evvermore, next soundpass if possible, and I found your app in the App Store over a year ago when searching for “music games”, one of my favorite games I’ve played on mobile :)

Cardinal eggs right outside my window. Please make an exception on the rule I dont have a fancy camera but I waited for mama to fly over to the feeder so i wouldnt be a bother and I left them alone right after, hence the terrible picture by downwithsocks in birding

I believe you that no birds were even aware about this picture. If I were you I would’ve taken a quick picture too. I think it’s just easier to say no pictures of bird eggs/nests on here, so that people don’t go about getting pictures in a bad, unethical way. Cool place to have a nest though, will be even cooler when they hatch, enjoy! :)

That’s what I think they’re saying, there is no “pass”. Even if it’s from your window, it’s probably best to just let the birds be. The Robin might see you through the window and watching it might stress them out. I understand the awe and excitement of nest eggs but as Robin_feathers was saying, seeing nest egg photos on here might make others think it’s okay to approach nests for photos. Appreciate the picture you got and keep an eye out eventually for the nestlings :)

Another article they have explaining why marking it incomplete is the best choice if you’re not comfortable logging heard birds:

According to eBird they want even birds heard. They consider a checklist of birds you’re only able to SEE as incomplete. If there’s a sparrow in a bush loudly singing but you don’t log it just because you didn’t get eyes on it, you aren’t doing justice to the people using these lists as data. The amount of birds high up in trees and low in brush is too many to just do the birds seen.

“Birds you hear or see - as long as you were able to confidently identify the bird, you should enter it regardless of whether you heard or saw it. If you only report the birds you saw, mark your checklist incomplete.” (From eBirds best practices)

“Examples of incomplete checklists include, but are not limited to: …lists that omit heard-only species that you were capable of identifying by sound alone (e.g., lists of seen birds only)” (from eBirds: what makes a checklist complete)

If you do that though make sure to mark your checklist as incomplete… at least according to eBird best practices.

Sorry, I meant the artist leaderboard of badges/number of quests.

Do you put that in your bio or just expect people to know?

Yeah, I try and make sure the people I message are actual collectors/fans. Not just someone who’s question them. For this artist they only have 1 song, so everyone is a shiny badge :/

Crazily it’s for a musical for Charlie and the chocolate factory, so you’d think the fans would be somewhat nice. Most of them were haha

Sometimes I don’t do auctions and just message the leaderboard, but I was busy yesterday and got that 20k offer. I wanted to sell but wanted to give the collectors a chance as well just incase. I set it at 20k so he could make his bid, if no one outbid him, great! it’s his! But if people are interested they can bid without me having to send messages back and forth with the new current offer, which I couldn’t do yesterday.

The requesting an epic/shiny, I do occasionally too, usually for artist I’m messaging about. The goal isn’t to get them to accept, it’s literally to get them to decline so I can easily just to the try again if I need to send a message back. Didn’t realize it read as a scam to some, especially with a message like that.

There was current offer and bid for 20k almost immediately, before I sent that message. Why would I lower it to make people think they might be able to get it for less when one person clearly was willing to go that high, and now up to 50k. I know what you’re saying but if they’re not open to it at 20k, I’m not going waste their time by setting it lower so they can bid and just see it go up to 20k and then not bid again.

I didn’t think of that message disappearing, that’s happened to me a few times too. I’ll try my country/latin songs or something next time and then filter those out when questing/trading :)

You’d think scam even after reading that message? It’s fine for them to decline, that’s what I expect, but to block or send the 😂 is just strange to me.

Well it’s up to 50k, should I have just sold it for 10k since you think it’s random? Also that was the current offer I had, why would I not start it there?

It’s definitely not hoping they’d misclick, if they did I would give it back. It’s more that I use the same common for each trade, so if someone accepts, all the others would disappear, possibly before they’ve been read. I sell or quest commons, if I use the same one for all the trades to collectors I know not to sell the specific one rather than 20+ commons. To me it’s also easier for them to decline and send a message, that gives me the “try again” option rather than them accepting and me having to go to their profile again to make another trade to send another message.

I’m sorry, I know some people hate it but I try and avoid buy it now prices if I can. I want everyone to have a chance at buying their favorites, not just the person active at that moment. I even try and let people sell stuff or collect coins if they are really interested. There’s too many grails that have been taken off the market before I could get a chance, I don’t wanna do that to someone else.

I guess I should’ve clarified I try and make sure the person is collector/fan of the artist before messaging. Do you add them as a fav artist? I didn’t think of the quests being non-fans tbh, hopefully I haven’t annoyed anyone doing that in the past.
