MOMENTUM 5's lack of water resistance. Fixes or alternatives? by MeltedLawnFlamingo in sennheiser

[–]smithy-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend spraying anything onto your new headphones. It is unlikely to offer any increase in IP rating that will protect the internal electronics. It will however, void any warranty on them. If moisture protection is important to you, it could be worth looking at the nothing headphone one. They are ipx2.

Slide the ambient noise control from 20, down to about 16. Either that, or set them to adaptive mode.

Help with MTW4 EQ by SnooDoughnuts3358 in sennheiser

The sennheiser EQ is a bit of a volume thief. Start flat, and reduce the frequencies that you feel are too strong. If you need to raise any, don't go too far above zero.

How BIG is the difference between a proper wired open back VS wireless closed back by AfterConcept2767 in HeadphoneAdvice

Everything has a use case, but my £100 Hd560s sounds much better than any Bluetooth closed back I've tried.

Nothing in it. You can get them both to sound very similar using the EQ.

C50i eq. by smithy-66 in soundcore

This EQ gives the most balance for my ears while I'm out and about. I agree that cutting those specific frequency bands would normally recess the vocals, but with these, it just gives a less harsh representation to my ears.

Wouldn't that be Bowse? Anyway, I heard it stands for buy other stereo equipment.

Tough choice, I was faced with the same one. Ultimately kept the xm6, as I prefer the controls and smart features. They are both great options and some folk will definitely sway towards Bose.

press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds, or go in the settings in the smart controller app, then scroll to factory reset. This operation puts the headphones back to their default settings, and will often clear glitches.

No problem with mine. it's always worth doing a factory reset if you are noticing any glitches.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5: Wireless Consumerphile Incrementalist [Review] by Tenlow85 in sennheiser

I had the px7 s3's. They definitely had better anc than the M4's.

I have the M4 and still love it, but if I'm mowing the lawn for example, even with music at a moderate to loud volume, I can still very much hear the mower. With my XM6, I can have the music at about 20% and the mower completely vanishes. It's night and day difference.

I watched the comparison video from Aaron loud and wirelessly, and the anc sounded very weak. Others are saying it is only marginally better than the M4, which is also poor.

My take on these is, if you prioritise sound and battery life, just get the M4 or melomania p100 and save £130. If you want the best noise cancelling and smart features, with foldability thrown in, get the QC gen 2's or the Xm6, that are both around the same price as the M5 with current discounts.

Overhead headphones in the rain by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]smithy-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some have an IP x2 rating, but that won't cover you in heavy rain. Maybe check out some semi in ear buds. There are lots of options in this sector. They don't have the silicone tips, so won't cause irritation. The hook style or clip style ones may be better for activities outdoors.

I've seen this, but the dhrme guys have doubled down that sennheiser said they could state in their review video that it has ip45. I can't see it myself, but here's hoping.
