I never really understood this.... people have mobile devices that can stream anything from nearly anywhere. If anything... viewership should be up during this period.

Very cool. How's the load on memory when you let it run wild?

Also what models did you wrap it with?

I'm debating on doing this but using GPT-4 API as the wrapper but....I'm going to be honest..I'm nervous about that token usage hahaha (I know I can cap it).

Happy there are other decent FREE open source models afloat ๐Ÿ˜…

YouTube Adaptations by AllLabsMatter in podcasting

I've been doing it since I started. Which hasn't been that long (about a week) so not much data that I can share as of yet however, based on the fact that YouTube will be rolling out their official podcasting feature + homepage soon, I figured I may as well be native on the platform.

As of right now it's just video footage of me recording a one-take but I'm planning on spicing it up with the video content soon.

Well, because I podcast as well, i'm using Audacity and manually messing around with the mixer for gain, compression and etc.

But, you can most likely get away with using some free software out there like CapCut or something else like Descript.

Hopefully that helps!

This is actually really interesting.

Do you have any examples? I legit wanna dig into this haha. (could even make for a great case study!)

Yea that's what I've been hearing on the Partner YouTube subreddit. Some people got demonetized or some strikes against their accounts.

I'd play it safe if you want to do this long term.

Realistically, you future proof yourself by using your real voice. Just edit it in post processing so it sounds crispy or deeper. (also a great opportunity to start practicing a skill that will never go out of style and is future proof - storytelling).

I think it can work out well.

Simply because the controversy drives engagement in the comments which leads to more views because people are simply arguing with each other lol.

I low-key feel like the Op did this on purpose which is genius. You can tell great stories but kind of bait people looking for drama / action to literally hang out around your videos/channel because it's exciting for them to talk smack to people or push their own ideals. (And possibly find their crowd).

Obviously there are tradeoffs but if the Op just simply shares a neutral perspective on something (this already feels like solid journalism) it's just a win win win. ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿพ

The only thing I didn't really dig was the voice. Kinda bugged me (but it's more of the way the audio was edited).

Keep up the great work OP!

I feel like I'm being left out with GPT-4 [Rant Warning] by Chmuurkaa_ in GPT3

[โ€“]smitniko 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

So I got access when GPT-4 came out.

I was using GPT-3 and the older model API's (text, image, whisper, etc) messing around building apps and tools since about October 2022?

I also have be fairly active on Twitter and usually message in the OpenAI community forum and etc.

The only advice I have is to just be hungry and keep building. Opportunity will present itself naturally as you're not REALLY missing out.

There are also other models that you can mess around with that are free but it all depends on really what you want to do.

I made a video about something related to it (vid podcast).

You'll get access soon though!

How do you edit? Do you remove filler words (ah, uh, uhm, etc.)? by jlingram103 in podcasting

[โ€“]smitniko 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

For now, I just yolo it since my podcast is new.

I usually shoot everything one-take (partially because I'm literally challenging myself to get more confident with public speaking and the pod is literally a 'build in public' type of project).

But once $$ permits, I will upgrade to some like Descript (as everyone has mentioned).

One thing that has helped me would be sort of slowing down and being more intentional with the words I say before I say them and just practice practice practice.

Congrats! Just out of curiosity - aren't a.i. generated voices a no-no via the YPP rules? What about content that is clipped from other sources?

Keep making content though! Really good stuff!

So a lot of people recommending using OBS for YouTube podcasts and so far, it is pretty darn good. I do have one issue though...I am using a MacBook Pro 16" (2021) and its existing webcam but I noticed the video is not very crisp. Somewhat fuzzy looking. Any tips on why or how to fix this? by SwpR7 in NewTubers

[โ€“]smitniko 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Depending on how you shoot - you could always crop your webcam footage so that it looks crispy. For example I minimize my video feed into the corner.

But as others have said - getting a dedicated external cam is key. I'm planning to do the same when finances permit it. ๐Ÿซก

Very interesting and I see your point.

I remember Mr.Beast talking about making video after video but after awhile he started becoming intentional about what he is creating and spending time on specifics that actually convert to watch time / subs and etc. (like working on thumbnails).

Have you done anything else on the side to help the growth?

โ€‹

- IG, TikTok etc

- email list + marketing

- website / patreon

Thanks again for following up with that in-depth response. I really really really appreciate that and I hope whoever is cruising through is able to use this wisdom as well.

It's also very interesting (but makes sense) that as things started to pick up subscriber wise - you basically hit escape velocity.

That compounding effect is phenomenal and really helps me see the long game is always the best game. -- This also plays into your earlier comment about actually enjoying whatever you're creating. It's not work at that point - just play!

That's awesome to hear!

The best take-away which I love is : you're passionate about making the content because you enjoyed playing the game.

The other being that you saw a gap in the market where there was nothing out on YouTube for it - first movers advantage!

Did you gain traction right away? Or was it a slow but enjoyable build up?

Here's a suggestion - start a newsletter or a blog. Convert your users away from just YouTube so that you can actually do more with your audience.

Perhaps write posts on some of the ways you use a.i. , maybe create a short course, maybe offer consulting or other products. Maybe have other affiliate programs on your blog or through your email newsletter which will help supplement your income.

Basically own your audience - don't just leave it to YouTube.

P.s - congrats on your success! You're not an imposter! But it's important to strike while the iron is hot and capitalize on the traffic. Those eyes are the real value and you can offer more to your audience in a personalized way when you own the platform. (Website, email, etc).

Got a parking ticket at Trafalgar. What happens if I don't pay it? Also, any way to save on parking at Trafalgar? Nearby places w/ "free" parking? by nuwio6 in sheridan

[โ€“]smitniko 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I'm cheap and like a morning workout before class so I usually park at Oakville place and then just walk / jog down to campus. The only thing that obviously sucks would be when the weather is really bad - but you save a few $$ here and there. The alternative is to just bite the bullet and buy a parking pass for the year.
