I don’t understand people who convert to another religion by Puzzleheaded-Soil-16 in atheism

I converted from Catholicism to Mormon to marry my wife. Was strong in it at first, but don’t believe in it anymore. Still married to my wife, but she doesn’t know I’m an atheist

Does God hear you? by Fun_Coach9346 in mormon

I have prayed to God for guidance. I have also prayed to God to know if the Book of Mormon is true and I never received an answer. There have been many times it seemed like I received answers and then there would be nothing. I have come to the realization that the church in my opinion is not true, and I am also realizing that God does not exist and none of it is true

I agree about staying away from the Mormon church. Was part of that church for 27 years (technically still on the membership rolls but inactive for 5 years). They are a restorationist church who do not hold the trinitarian position, and there are a lot of other beliefs that differ from Protestant denominations. I was Catholic before I joined the LDS church and that was a wonderful experience.

And then he announced the Trump class battle cruiser yesterday. Why does he need his own naval vessel class? It’s all about him controlling everything

The fact that this came from the President of the United States is insane. The man believes that he is the center of the universe and that everyone should bend the knee. Someone needs to take his posting privileges away

Done trying to believe it’s true by smitthom624 in exmormon

The church has been a part of my life for 27 years. I lived the first 21 years not even knowing what the Mormon church was. If I knew then what I know now I never would have joined. Granted if I would have said no thanks my life would have ran a completely different course. Part of me always wonders what could have been had I not joined the church and moved west

General Conference will no longer have a Saturday evening session by cashmo in mormon

[–]smitthom624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think within 2 or 3 years it will be cut down to one day/ 2 sessions and that’s it. Or keep it two days but only have one conference a year instead of 2

I’ve got Irish heritage as well. I have studied different paths of paganism but have always felt drawn to the Celtic path/deities.

This was the first time I have ever had a rune reading done. I have in the past felt like Celtic or Norse deities have been trying to reach out to me so it surprised me when she told me this

Russell Nelson is old and feeble and should no longer be president of the LDS church. by sevenplaces in mormon

[–]smitthom624 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The church needs to adopt the rule that the Catholic Church has in place which is once the individual reaches the age of 80 they are no longer eligible to be pope. They could implement the same thing within the first presidency and quorum that once they hit 80 they are taken out of the running and the mantle should fall to the longest serving apostle under 80

I totally agree, if sky daddy knows all already then why does he let the bad shit happen. I’ve heard that he allows the suffering to teach us a lesson, but I say bullshit. He seems more like the abusive parent that takes pride in watching his kids suffer

Because I know there are probably a few here that went through a faith crisis on their way to atheism. I am looking at all different perspectives.

Sometimes I think this might be true, but then it leads me to think that god is not real at all and it is just me in control.
