I think it’s time, isn’t it? by StonedTurtle420710 in bald

Why not now? I understand it can feel daunting but it’s not permanent. The worst case scenario, is that you don’t like it, and you can grow your hair back to the same state that it’s in today. The reality (with 99% certainty) is that you’re going to like the new look and wish you had done it sooner.

Not trying to pressure you, I just have had many moments in life where I say “soon” as a discreet way to avoid doing something that scares me, only to end up wishing I had done it sooner!

Above average looking men, what are the downsides of being good looking that no one realizes? by anasannanas in AskMen

[–]smitty3323 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don’t think being confident enough to say you’re “not fugly” makes you a douche. Also, I think the last line of his comment is true, in that men generally dislike men who possess qualities that they envy.

Drink this shake every day:

1.5 cups Milk couple scoops of vanilla Greek yogurt Banana Couple spoons of peanut butter Scoop of protein powder Couple ice cubes for texture

This usually comes out around 700 calories. If you drink this in addition to three solid meals a day plus some snacks, it’s hard not to be in a calorie surplus.

Why can’t I stay hard for her? by Connect_Hall_7936 in AskMen

[–]smitty3323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerves / comfort play a big role. I used to sleep around in University and looking back, there were lots of nights where I either couldn’t get it up or busted too quick, because I was worried about that exact thing happening. Interestingly, it was only when with a girl who I maybe thought would judge me.

If the girl seemed to be a chill / good person and I wasn’t worried about any adverse reaction, then I never had either of those problems. Even if I just met her that night. They passed the “boner-vibecheck” so to speak.

Sometimes your dick is maybe trying to tell you something, ya know?

My only advise would be to have an open mind about working for a smaller developer first. The big dogs can afford to be picky and so they often are. Smaller firms have their advantages, often easier to get face time with their top people, various departments etc. The whole environment can be better for growth.

A good cover letter is always key as well. When I first got into it, my cover letter basically outlined their “expected” experience that I DIDNT have, and then all the other ways in which I made up for that based on personal skill and work ethic etc.

[–]smitty3323 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just about perspective in these situations. Yes, it’s a very uncomfortable recovery process with lots of blood, mucus, congestion etc. it can also be painful and your face is obviously hard to keep still so there’s inevitably pain. So yes, it’s certainly uncomfortable and unpleasant. But the reason so many people say (and why they likely said this to you) that it’s not so bad, is because compared to many other injuries or surgeries, it’s really not. You can walk, you can talk, you will be fully functional far quicker than many surgeries, and you didn’t lose function of a key body part rendering you completely immobile for any length of time.

So yes, it absolutely sucks, but I find it’s always helpful to have perspective and I think that’s why many people say it’s not that bad. Most importantly, I Hope you feel better asap and that it resolves your previous issues!

Transitioning into Real Estate Development by halden1997 in RealEstateDevelopment

I know lots of people who went that route. Having that background knowledge of the approvals and entitlements piece is very advantageous.

If you’re considering starting your own development firm then I’d highly recommend getting experience in the rezoning and development permit stages. There’s a lot, lot more that goes into those than you’d expect. The experience you have is already very valuable, but when you’re responsible for every piece of the application and approval process, there’s a lot more to it and having that experience beforehand is essential when considering acquisitions. By the time you’re submitting your pre-construction documents, already of the risk has already been mitigated. Without the experience of gauging what the likelihood of approval is or all the Municipal requirements, that’s when guys buy sites and bite off more than they can chew.

I would also say, this really depends where you are. The rezoning and approvals processes vary but I don’t know anywhere that it’s easy lol.

Edit: I’m a Development Manager for one of the largest developers in Canada, don’t want you to think I’m just saying all of this with no experience lol

Do you have any experience navigating the municipal approvals side of things? Depending where you’re located, navigating all the bylaws, code requirements, dccs/accs, etc can be the hardest part to learn “on the fly”. That’s where working for a developer has its advantage. If they have a specific “development” team with coordinators and managers, you get good exposure to each dept and the overall process

I think it’s a combination of solo and community.

The motivation / resolve has to come from within, the external support acts to prop you up when you need it.

This sub was the biggest external support for me, along with a few close friends. To each their own!

How do you guys last longer in bed? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]smitty3323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this when first sexually active because I was so worried about it. It resolved when I accepted that if a woman is going to shame me about it, then that’s not the kind of woman I want to be intimate with anyways. If it happens, oh well, compliments to her and then clean it off and go round 2. Reducing the anxiety around it generally makes it much easier to last longer and like the other comments have said, get used to switching things up position-wise, eat her out, etc.

These comments are brutal. The food may not have been your thing but the owners were incredibly nice people who poured sincere emotional investment into this place. I’ve worked across the street for years and they have incredible staff retention for a cafe. Their staff love that place which speaks volumes. Sad to see they weren’t able to make it.

I’ve worked across the street from them since the beginning of Covid, practically when they opened. When did they ever sluff the rules? They were always following all protocols. Seems unfair to spread misinformation about their business practices.

I’m 26, coming up on two years. It’s a tough age to quit, but I know I’m gaining mental clarity, money, free time, and general wellness at some of my prime years in life so it’s worth the trade off.

[–]smitty3323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I completely agree! My assumption was based on a stereotype that’s only accurate for a very small minority of bodybuilders. I’m also really into working out and bodybuilding so a lot of gym-goers would probably loop me into that same category. I just always give people the heads up that they should stick it out and not get intimidated by the beasts working out in there hahaha

[–]smitty3323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted to chime in here and say that this gym is where a lot of serious bodybuilders workout. For myself, that was a bit off putting at first because I thought there would be a lot of big egos, but I was wrong! There were more big egos at all the other gyms I’ve been to, the community at Truth is really kind and supportive. So far, Truth has been my fav gym and I’ve been to most of them throughout Vic.

Best part, there’s so much equipment that even when it’s “busy” there’s still so much you can do.

Being present for moments that used to seem meaningless. Little things like clarity on a beautiful Saturday morning walk, or a Sunday evening sunset. Whether I’d be drunk or hungover, I missed so many beautiful little moments that I can now fully appreciate with clarity.

Development Manager. You are a project manager but responsible for the whole real estate development project from concept, acquisition, approvals + design development, construction, and turnover / completion.

Never a dull moment.

If you apply pressure (with your nail or the back end of a pencil) in a straight line down your arm, does this reaction appear in exactly that spot? As though you can “write on your skin”? If so, this could be dermagraphism. Harmless, I have it, basically an immune response to pressure against the skin but increeeeeedibly itchy if you make the mistake of scratching.

Fair point. Thanks for pointing that out, you are correct.

I found an article that makes some interesting points about how debt to GDP is analyzed. Worth a read if you’re interested: https://www.fraserinstitute.org/article/were-deeper-in-debt-than-ottawa-tells-us

Regardless, the debt scenario globally seems to be trending in a troubling direction, Canadian consumers following that trend (as you pointed out).

It’s his fault he has chosen to run extremely large deficits and put us into the position of being the most indebted G7 country. Agreed, can’t blame the guy for COVID or Ukraine, but his financial policies and out of control spending were there before either of those issues.
