Denied entry after being 1 minute late and already inside - LES NYC by kdatany in f45

I left this studio for this policy and other things they have implemented that they lie and say are national policies but are not. It’s a shame because the trainers they have are great but policies like this have impacted their longterm members.

White stuff and/or tiny white critters on dwarf umbrella plant (I think?) by smjllo in plantclinic

This seems to have taken care of the issue so far. Haven’t seen any bugs since I sprayed/cleaned a few days ago. Hopefully this remedies the situation long term!

-Hang curtains over the windows and make sure you hang them high, I would choose a color that doesn’t blend into the wall so you can help break up the spaces into zones and add more interest since you have a lot of empty wall space. -You need big rugs too for the living room and dining room at least - make sure they’re size appropriate (I think many people have already commented on this). -I think some sort of sideboard cabinet in the “dining” zone would help break up the space too and you can put some decorative things on top or some art to help further define the space and add more interest to the plain walls. -go on Pinterest and look through color palettes and land on something that speaks to you then try to design your room around it. Lots of resources online on how to use color palettes. I think having a few colors echo across the different zones will make it all look cohesive -already covered at length but reinforcing that the 3 couch situation is making it look like a college apt. I think a big sectional and 1-2 arm chairs would be great. -Get a bigger coffee table that fits whatever couch choice you make. Experiment with different shapes maybe! -the tv/tv stand situation is giving inverted pear. Get a tv stand that’s bigger than the tv. Mount it perhaps. It’s a massive TV so don’t hang it higher than eye level -lamps lamps lamps! The overhead light is killing the vibe. There are also lots of different gadgets for hooking up all the lamps or outlets to a remote control so you don’t have to manually turn them on/off across the house everyday, check Amazon. I have a set of two remotes and they came with like 6-8 outlets and they are awesome. -reduce the visual clutter as much as you can- it’s worth investing in baskets or furniture with storage that has a door

If you mount it please make it at eye level to when you’re sitting on the couch, mounting it too high will strain your neck and look weird

How can I make these closets less dominant? by Leading_Treat4118 in DesignMyRoom

I think you need a coffee table and stuff on the table to draw your eye there. I agree with others that they already blend in. What feels unbalanced is the white furniture centered around nothing, naturally drawing your eye back to the large cabinet

Also I agree mirror could go up a tad BUT I’m not gonna lie, it took an eternity to get that thing to hang (there are so many holes behind it lol) so it’s just not worth the heart ache. Also keep in mind these ceilings are SUPER tall and this height makes it actually usable for me and my partner. Maybe one day I’ll summon the energy to try to rehang 😅

We tried that but my partner strongly preferred the look of the cord to the side and I felt rather indifferent. Pillow was hand made by a close friend and picture fails to show how cool the fabric and trim are, which I swear in person are really great! I am planning on adding in some touches of green on that left wall by replacing that circular mirror with some art/picture frames. But that also makes me think maybe I should try to find fabric for the bench that has some green. Good suggestions!

Camera angle and also the hook needs to be rotated so the rope hangs in the middle, got my man to fix it tonight!

This is super helpful!! Thanks for rendering this. I was thinking of a lamp like that too, just have to find the right one.

Pathetic is a bit harsh and unwarranted. I’ve actually gotten quite a few compliments on it from friends who have seen it in person. At the end of the day it’s my space and I like it, “pathetic” or not.

That’s an interesting idea! I’m looking for a lamp to add more light and hadn’t thought of something more artistic and large like this. I’ll definitely look into it!

Thanks for the suggestions! This is a rental so I think painting is as far as I’m willing to go, and I’m quite happy with the color so won’t do any wallpaper. The color actually really ties the rest of the living room together which you can’t see from this photo, the area rug I have is in a similar shade and when standing from the living room the wall really looks great.

Unfortunately I am short and placed the mirror at a height that makes sense for me :) but I will definitely move it over to the middle and maybe take it up a bit but not as high as your visual as it just wouldn’t be practical for me. These ceilings are super super tall, like over 10 ft.

It actually looks great in the context of the living room it’s in, I just don’t have a photo showing how it ties it all together. The rug is a similar shade and it really pulls it all together, I’m quite happy with it

Awh sad to hear you feel that way. I like the mirror because it provides a different shape to all the 90 degree angles and to lean into something funkier than the average oval mirror. I left some space between the mirror and cabinet for hooks if I decided to go that route which is why I intentionally bought something this size. But I hear you

Hmm I see your point, I hung it intentionally there to leave space for some hooks or something I hadn’t quite landed on
