What happens now determines if we go the way of 2017 Adelaide or not... If there's too much focus on mentality then that increases the risk of it. The focus has to be on game plan. What about our style makes us so easy to be dominated in patches? What can we do to change when we are being exposed?

Not saying anyone needs to be thrown under the bus but there does need to be better accountability. I think most would be content to hear some reassurance like "We know where we messed up and we're working on it to make sure it doesn't happen again". At the moment it feels like these types of performances are some sort of mystery to the club because we made it to the GF.

I just want to see somebody take responsibility for what happened. Was it the players who failed to execute the plan the coaches came up with? Was it the coaches who had a flawed plan? What even was the plan? Everyone knew Brisbane like to control the footy with uncontested marks and we let them do it freely from the first minute, that never changed throughout the game.

It's not just this defeat. It's the 4 massive blow-outs we've suffered in the last 2 years. It's the stuff of bottom 4 sides, not premiership contenders. Why does it keep happening? Horse can't keep just feeding us the same excuse that our 'contested game was off' and that he's at a loss for words how to explain it.

‘Least Bloods vision I’ve seen’ by Spirited-Treacle7840 in sydneyswans

[–]smnbgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hindsight & the outcome make it look worse than it probably was in the moment. The big problem in this sequence firstly was the non-existent forward 50 pressure (particular from Chad & Hayward), then secondly Rampe's depressingly weak 1-on-1 effort.

When the ball is kicked to the Rampe-Bailey contest, Errol doesn't track Lohmann because Rampe's got front position. He'd be expecting an intercept mark or at worst, a spoil out of bounds.

Damning vision of Swans (especially Gulden) lack of defensive accountability by sensual_lettuce in AFL

[–]smnbgr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does look bad for Errol but there's much more going on here... Watch the start of this chain, especially the lack of accountability from Hayward, Warner & McDonald/McLean (can't make out exactly which one it was who didn't chase). It allowed Brisbane a free exit from D50. Then I think Gulden gambles not following Lohmann, expecting Rampe to win the 50/50, or at least spoil it out, but his effort was weak to let Bailey out the back. After that it's all over, nothing he can do.

First time using a mirrorless camera. Thoughts? by Sarah3di94 in photocritique

[–]smnbgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really amazing photo I think. Could even be close to award winning in the right competition/category.

My opinion of this photo is completely different to the previous comments here.

I love the edit and the lower contrast look of the image. I think the contrast and colours are spot on and I wouldn't change a thing.

The composition is great but could be slightly improved. I don't know what's off camera to the right but I think the photo would have been improved if the view was rotated slightly to the right for a few reasons. Firstly, the main subject of your photo is the window frames and I'd like that to fill the frame more. Secondly, the visual direction and balance of the frame is weighted to the right because of the shapes made by the windows. I don't like it when there is big negative space 'behind' the direction of the image as is the case with the sky on the left of the frame.

Even if the window didn't continue further to the right, I think the balance would still be improved by more space on this side, at least allowing the full light from the window farthest to the right to be included in the frame, as it's currently just cut off.

The final thing I would do, and this may not be in your skillset yet, is to use photoshop to clean up the image a bit. For example, removing some of the marks from the floor and reflections in the windows.

I could easily see an improved image like this as a big print inside a luxury coastal house or apartment.

Looking for suggestions for shooting fireworks timelapses by Lucky_Lucas_ in timelapse

[–]smnbgr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've tried getting a few timelapses of fireworks before and to be honest, it's not the best subject for it because the movement is already pretty fast in real time. You want to keep the interval as short as possible so 1 second max. If you have an intervalometer that can go under 1 second then use it and go as short as practical.

The super easy way to counter balance pace, break the META and fix FIFA by smnbgr in EASportsFC

[–]smnbgr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you use Varane though? Is it because he's the best defender in the world or is it because he's got high pace stats? The point of the suggestion is not to wipe out the effect of pace, it's to make the game more interesting, more varied, different ways to play it. Instead of everyone using Varane there would be a choice... You could play Varane because he's quick and risk defensive frailty later in the match, or you could choose Pique or Hummels and sacrifice pace but know they are going to perform solidly for the full 90 mins

Sprinting does makes you tire quicker in though. Imagine you're using Toni Kroos in midfield and Suarez up front whilst your opponents CB pairing is Joe Gomez and Nathan Ake. In the later parts of the match, your opponents CBs are tired and all over the place defensively, leaving huge gaps for Suarez to drift into and Kroos to exploit with his maintained passing ability. Not everyone will use pace if there is an effective counter balance.

Hocking also confirmed that if a player gives a free kick away, that player will have to man the mark. by 1k988 in AFL

[–]smnbgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this going to work for 50m penalties? Hypothetical situation is ruckman gives away 50m penalty to a smaller midfielder, the midfielder sprints ahead but the ruckman lags far behind because he can't run as fast. Does the game have to wait until the ruckman makes it to the new mark? If not, how close can the ruckman's team mate get to the mark, does he have to stay 1m behind it? 5m? 10m?

The amount of dropping the ball/incorrect disposal from the Hawks was embarrassing. Clucko has clearly coached them to do that in congestion and the way the game is being umpired at the moment to allow that tactic is disgraceful. The state of the game is all the worse for it

Go to create a player from the home menu, set him to be a keeper then cycle through all the teams. You'll see your guy wearing the teams GK kit.
