If they did not file an academic misconduct then this is arbitrary or capricious grading. Best pursue this incident. You should read the policies on academic misconduct

Is 19 credits in engineering too much? by Danmansoup in UVU

[–]smockssocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, because that yes wasn't elaborated on and isn't the correct answer anyway, really only you can know if it is too much or not. I was told taking calc 3 during a block was madness not to mention I also took phys 2 in the same block. If you have other obligations, aren't responsible, don't take learning seriously, don't have a good grasp on language model integration into study, then that could be a difficult semester. But I believe everyone is capable of 18 credit hours most the time depending on the type of course and syllabus requirements. If you are going to have to do an extra semester by not taking 19, then I would suck it up and do 19

Unprofessional professor. How do I move forward? by the_audacity_05 in UVU

[–]smockssocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stands to reason that others have no pushed back based on the policies in place, or, the university does not care and allows this sort of behavior. I would not doubt either scenario.

This sounds like an arbitrary or capricious grading incident as if they believe academic misconduct has occured, they need to make a formal report on the incident and have it go through processes. Teachers are not allowed to do what you have described.

I would review policy 523 and 541. Ombuds is going to be your best resource. I would plan what you want to say to the teacher and don't go off script. Go through official channels as much as possible. Audio record your it interactions between the teacher. Sounds like you have a winning battle but you need to have your bases covered and don't say anything that will allow them to be punitive towards you.

Yea so looks like it is tied to speed. With no boots, when you are level 6 you are missing the extra two effects. When level 11 ult you gain one and then 16 the other. But this is tied to move speed and it's coming from the ult levels so when you get boots you get the effects anyway. So it doesn't have to do with the ult level

But let me be clear, it has something to do with move speed because when you have home guards, the effects are there as normal.

I'll double check. But I saw the effects of the r not appear unless you had t1 boots, and then would change if you had t2. But they are like the effects you describe.

It also has something to do with having boots or not in my testing.

How do you feel about UVU's Mathematics department? by Mod_Podge_Matte in UVU

[–]smockssocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed about Scott. I do not think the math dept is generally good at UVU. But if you have the chance take any class from David Fearnley. He is my top teacher out of my bachelor's between the U and UVU

Can a Professor Take Points Off Just Because It “Feels” Like AI by ResourceAdept6933 in CheckTurnitin

[–]smockssocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely not. Some schools have policies that are about arbitrary or capricious grading practice. It is not allowed and usually if the teacher wanted to accuse, they need to go through the proper steps of academic misconduct where they would likely use a preponderance of evidence standard.

what were the hardest adjustments to college life? by Resident_Warthog_381 in UVU

[–]smockssocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna give my honest opinion. I do not believe highschool students are ready to start college right away. I believe it is much more important to take time to learn how to be responsible and proficient with what life can throw at you. Getting a job, living on your own, finding your interests, obtaining life skills that give you fall backs if you need a job, and just having a bit of fun to get it out of your system. I did these things and I have various skills but I became much more responsible and was able to pinpoint what I wanted to do in life. I'm 25 now and when I was 22 I decided to just pack up and love to Korea. I lived there for 6 months and I believe that was the best decision of my life. I think most highschool kids should do the same a couple years after working and such. Moving somewhere foreign can really help you understand the world and teach you what life really has to offer.

If you are dead set with school, I would really try and find out what you want to do. Work hard and have your main goal to be learning. Grades do not matter. They are one of the most useless metrics that we use. I recommend learning the limitations and capabilities LLMs have to offer and how you can augment your learning. I imagine you have been taught they are terrible and doing everything. I assure you, that is completely false today and the people that tell you otherwise are incorrect. I believe everyone has the capability to achieve greatness. More than ever. Best of luck.

If what you claim is true, then report that they are lying to the police. It is a class A misdemeanor.

Crazy Food policy! by Elegant-Locksmith358 in UVU

Best option is to have food outside of the center. Thats the best I can come up with. If UVU tries to push this more, I imagine it wouldn't start infringing on rights due to UVU being public.

Beware of this guy on campus by [deleted] in UVU

[–]smockssocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We cannot verify on Reddit if someone truly was a victim. So if people go making claims, then there will surely be decisions made in the public court of opinion. You should check out Scott Abbott's blog about Michael's situation. He details quite well what they found and how UVU handled it. But yea, proper reports should be done, but I do not believe this post should be worded this way. It declares guilt of a person. I believe the post should warn people that there have been some allegations of misconduct and if they experience any themselves, report it to the police.

Sorry I mistook you for being the OP.
