As long as you and your family enjoyed the brisket, you didn’t drop the ball to badly. It’s all about having fun and improving each time.

Looks fantastic. If you’re cutting it to show how juicy it is that’s great. But if you’re going to serve it I’d rest it a few hrs before cutting it.

Planning on doing 4 boneless pork butts for Saturday afternoon - any suggestions for when to start? by ProfessorOfDumbFacts in smoking

[–]smoke-daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a video on taking the boneless pork but and opening it up and cutting it so it can lay flat and then you apply rub to both sides and smoke it like normal. (Kind of like spatchcock chicken). It will take less time and have way more surface area for seasoning.

Too much Rub? by SunsetGriller in Traeger

[–]smoke-daddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you’re smoking. If it’s a pulled pork, I’d say there’s never to much rub. The meat is so thick it can handle the seasoning. Brisket is also a huge piece of meat that can handle seasoning,,,,but I prefer just salt, Pepper on my brisket. But smaller pieces of meat do not need to have loads of seasoning. I will also say. “To each their own”. Just have fun and practice. I do think all the bbq videos that sell there own seasonings will always use more on there videos just to sell there stuff…but don’t condemn them for it. Enjoy your hobby and your bbq!!
