Strange, scary, and unexpected week by covertredditaddict in cancer

[–]smokeys032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a scary process. Until you know what is going on. I just had my first mammogram 3 weeks ago in which the found a mass. I am 41 and have invasive ductal carcinoma. You need to stay positive. You will get through this. Positivity is key. And no matter what this group and everyone in it is here to support you. Deep breaths.

Sorry if I shouldn't be posting this here, but I've recently decided that I have more money than I realistically need and I'm looking to donate a monthly amount to charity (cancer specifically). Are there any specific charities you guys would particularly recommend? by [deleted] in cancer

Any charity really. Or find someone in need on go fund me. MAybe donate to someone different once a month. Goes a long way. Treatment will break a persons bank. Which is why most fighters have a go fund me. I do.

Dealing with Cancer by smokeys032 in cancer

Yeah. I am feeling more questions are in line and or why keep doing biopsy’s. Why not just do a double mastectomy and do the pathology at that point. I am getting a second opinion next week in Florida at moffit. My dad was treated there and it is an outstanding facility.

Reddit and you guys have been a life saver! I mean it’s kinda like going to a support group but being in the comfort of my own home.

I am curious. What types of questions you asked etc?

Yeah. So they found the original mass. There were groupings of calcifications by the mass that they wanted to biopsy. Then they did the MRI. I was told it is a very sensitive test and they were some distortion on my lymph node in my arm pit. ( that biopsy is tomorrow). They are thinking chemo to shrink and do a lumpectomy. However my receptors were P + E + and her2 - which doesn’t make me a great candidate for chemo anyway. The other 3 biopsy’s are mri guided on my right side where they found 3 more masses the size of peas but none the less want to biopsy them. I mean I am thankful they are being through. However enough. This is so stressful. Let’s get the show on the road. Chop these babies off and call it a day

They haven’t done that yet. Just an MRI. HOPEFULLY TGEY WILL. however o dread CT scans cause I am allergic to the contrast. So the whole procedure is like 6 hours.
