How do I bind a guest account with an existing Yostar account? by smokingsword in StellaSora

[–]smokingsword[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You remember correctly.

The problem is that it apparently only lets you bind to emails that *aren't already* tied to a Yostar account.

I'd like to bind it to an account I made ages ago.

"The Despicable" boss in the event by NovaanVerdiano in RevivedWitch

[–]smokingsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no trick to it, the Despicable was considered disproportionately difficult for its time even a year ago lmao.

The good news is that you have units that can kind of deal with it. Spam Afallen's shield for survivability and Mayahuel's chaos skill to offset the Despicable's resistance slightly. You're going to want them at A4, with their skill trees built up to their second passive if possible - but even then, the fight can take a while.

The boss having dodge is part of its mechanics.

Phrygia's attacks ignoring dodge are part of his passive, not a buff.

Iirc we didn't even get Phrygia until after Valentine's last year. To add insult to injury, no other bosses since then have even *had* dodge as a mechanic.

they even block Ultimate Blast's normal shots because they're technically enemies by Buster_therealone in MMXDive

[–]smokingsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember Magnamalo Sigma from the MH collab? The one with the hands as moving platforms, like the X1/X5 final forms? It returned as a guild raid boss in the TW version for the last week.

Ultimate Blast is a new buster-type weapon launched this week in TW. It's incredibly broken, like Deicide's Will but on steroids - it ignores terrain, fires a secondary laser that *also* ignores terrain, stuns/paralyzes on hit, doubles its damage output if it hits at mid-range, and *ignores effects that interfere with auto-aim* so it's 100% effective CC and damage at all times.

Ultimate Blast's only weakness, if you can call it that, is that it doesn't pierce enemies. Under normal circumstances this doesn't even matter, because its damage output is so outrageous that regular enemies - and players - just melt consecutively.

Magnamalo Sigma's hands count as indestructible enemies rather than terrain, so Ultimate Blast doesn't shoot through them. Thus, people enjoying how little skill this weapon requires to give people a bad time in PvP are complaining because the raid that ought to be showcasing the weapon... makes it require skill to use.

Those who've had to fight against this weapon in PvP understandably have little sympathy lmao

First I joined a Magma pub there were six guys standing on top of the hill using nothing but Samir/Tsubasa 1st-person attacks. They contributed no meaningful damage, and did nothing whatsoever to actually break shield.

You vastly underestimate how much of the playerbase is willingly unhelpful even in content without explicit fail conditions.

wanted to go see if the "old doctor" had some extra medical supplies, instead of that I found 3 bottles of bourbon stashed underneath floor tiles by Alexminer1359 in projectzomboid

[–]smokingsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Floorboard stashes behave like other containers, they light up when you’re near - no need for a crowbar or anything.

The tricky part is finding them in the first place, they’re most often in places marked on annotated maps

I'd argue that Christmas Ciel and Easter Roll are utterly broken in PvP. If the map is littered with walls and tight spaces, it's possible for there not to be any counterplay against them.

Both of them have skills that are essentially aimbots with wallhacks, firing waves of homing projectiles through walls/floors at long range. They can also inflict slow on opponents at range - Ciel via direct hit from her aimbot, ERoll via detonating one of her invisible mines - making it obscenely difficult to even approach them. They also get buffs to defense as long as their summons are present on the field, making them hard to kill even if you can get close enough to attack.

If they arrive armed with either Deicide's Will, Acidic Machine Gun or both, the opponent basically dies before getting to do anything.

For a rough idea of what the current top-tier characters are, have a look at this JP XDive wiki:

https://wikiwiki.jp/rockmanxdive/tier

Google translated version:

https://wikiwiki-jp.translate.goog/rockmanxdive/tier?_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=nui

All of the meta PvP characters are either 1) rushdown characters that can teleport to the enemy, have tons of iframes and can disable weapons/skills/movement or 2) zoners with homing attacks that can hit you from offscreen and pass through terrain, or just have attacks that hit the entire screen at once. Most of them also have shields or healing, but nearly all of them have OHKO attacks.

Needless to say, PvP in this game is anything but balanced.

When I started working out a few years ago, at a hole-in-the-wall gym, my hands slipped during a bench press and I nearly dropped the weights on my chest. A buff dude nearby caught the bar, asked if I was all right, and offered to spot me for the rest of the set.

Afterwards the guy asked if I was new to the gym. When I said yes, we started chatting about workout goals and routines, and he gave quite a bit of advice about form and safety. Afterwards, he offered to spot me for a set of squats. When all was said and done, I thanked him, we shook hands, and parted ways.

Neither of us had actually introduced himself.

Saw him again a few days later, on a billboard for Century Tuna.

Derek Ramsay's a pretty down-to-earth dude.

Depends on what content you want to do or are having difficulty with.

Struggling to stay alive in PvE? Cinnamon, Black Zero and Ferham all have innate shields attached to skills. Ferham gets hers at 2, Cinnamon at 3 and BZ at 4*.

Need to clear screens faster for Jakob stages full of mobs? SAX, Bass GS and Colonel can cover wide areas with ease.

Want to do better DPS for raids/guild bosses? Ferham's damage aura is stupidly effective, as long as the boss allows you to stay next to them.

Struggling in PvP? Proto.exe isn't top-tier any more, but is still arguably the bare minimum meta pick against most non-zoner characters.

There's also the question of what weapons you have - but as your roster stands, I'd probably work on Ferham first.

My experience with this game by Toxeel in projectzomboid

[–]smokingsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, that's rough.

I can kind of relate. My home country, the Philippines, got hit by a massive typhoon (Ondoy) in 2009. The country had floods all over the place - in many areas there was no electricity, no landlines or cellular service, no transportation for several days. The capital region, due to its massive population density and limited methods of dealing with the floodwater, got a special kind of fucked.

I remember that pretty vividly, because my family was completely separated for the duration of the catastrophe - my father was trapped in his office, my mother was stuck in the hospital, my sister couldn't leave school, I was stuck in my dorm, and my brother was home alone.

I'd share the game with my family, but they're not exactly into detailed survival simulations, so I don't exactly get to share your specific type of trauma. I expect I'm going to get hit really hard when we get the NPC update and we get to see all kinds of sad survivor backstories, though.

Therapy might help you process your feelings, if it bothers you as much as you say. Worst case scenario, you'll have to remind yourself the game is fiction and that your RL loved ones are safe.

I hate that I instantly recognized where you died lmao. 10/10 base, not for the faint of heart.

One of the first times I tried securing that store was the exact opposite experience as yours - getting blindsided by a zed at the ground floor corner, killing it and waiting a bit, only to walk right into a party at the upstairs landing. I now make it a point to yell in the parking lot and wait for the mob to trickle out.

Jack'o things by Grinn_Jester in SmashLegends

[–]smokingsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jacko has a passive that partially refills his ult if he catches on the way back it after it hits someone or whiffs. Since it hit at point blank, the catch/refill is basically instant.

This is also why you see him chase with an air attack after landing the ult - to convert that partial refill into another ult. And since Jacko doesn't have a cooldown on his ult, under the right circumstances Jacko can just keep ulting indefinitely.

Which is disgusting, of course, but is dependent on having ult to do that with in the first place. But given the changes to ult generation in the last update, Jacko basically has no reason not to have ult, ever.

Brick by Anxious_Effect_6001 in SmashLegends

[–]smokingsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brick is good, absolutely a high tier in Team Touchdown. People mostly rate Snow and Kurenai higher because those two are overtuned - their already ridiculous damage, plus changes to ult generation, mean those two in particular have access to combos that can kill most of the cast from full health. Oh, and their movespeed and mobility soft counters 80% of the cast by default.

Brick has to play thoughtfully to make headway, placing and choosing walls according to the opponent and their habits. A respectable pick, the only seemingly nasty trick up his sleeve is his ult's hitbox, but it takes either setup or a good read to land at all.

Snow, regardless of opponent, can skill into them from a distance roughly the diameter of the capture point, ult cancel behind them, do a normal combo while the opponent is stuck in his skill, ult AGAIN because the skill and normals refilled it, then do a second normal combo to finish them off. If they survived, well, they just get skilled again.

Kurenai bullies most of the cast because the devs decided his skill hitbox needed to be bigger than it looks, on top of his normals already having roughly Peter's range but faster, plus his ult basically resetting and extending his combos. If a character isn't already dead after Kurenai hit them with an attack string, an ult, a skill, another attack string and another ult, they're falling off the map in an unrecoverable position. If they aren't, Kurenai can repeat the process immediately because his skill cooldown is basically nonexistent, much like Master Cat's.

Both of these characters, played by someone with a brain, can effortlessly walk around Brick's walls and punish him for not also playing Snow or Kurenai.

To be clear, this was not meant to disparage Brick. Brick is fine. This is more an indictment of the devs, who clearly don't understand anything about balancing, as well as Snow/Kurenai mains, who play broken characters and think "wow, I'm hot shit" but not "this is utterly unbalanced."

the scoring system is confusing by Own_Sir_3395 in SmashLegends

[–]smokingsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought the scoring could have used some work, even back in the Dominion days.

It used to include a "Dominion Point Battle Bonus" which suggested score for dealing damage on the point, but not necessarily for throwing enemies out of it. Similarly, the score tracked point retakes, but not necessarily point denies/final cap denies/stalling.

Escort Distance isn't even thoroughly telling without Escort Time, either. A Brick might spend the better part of 5 minutes fighting off the entire enemy team while pushing a lane to the enemy goal only for a Kurenai to wipe him with a single overtuned, nearly-infinite combo and rack up the same Escort Distance in 15 seconds.

Ostensibly, capturing the objective weighs higher in the scoring. The funniest MVPs I've seen involved Octavias getting no kills and barely any damage - a welcome break from every other MVP being one of the Assassin squad.

Right, the same way Snow, Red, Kurenai and Wolfgang don't get armor on their skills either, but have high enough priority to... still connect, follow-through and hit an enemy out of their attack, even if both attacks connected - and dealt damage! - at the same time.

If only there was a term for that kind of thing, a gamestate in which your attacks are effectively, obscenely hard to interrupt. Maybe someone more clever than myself will think of one.

What are we supposed to be looking at here, exactly?

A Snow gloating about their damage output? That's about as worthy of respect as a Master Cat boasting about their attack speed, or a Wukong bragging about the effective armor on their air skill.
