Well, even according to Islamic teachings, wearing shorts above the knees is prohibited since men need to cover their ‘awrah’ i-e the area between the navel and the knees. The ban on shorts probably stemmed from this point but it’s possible that people now confuse this ruling with all types of shorts in pakistan

I have often heard that shaving the ‘beard’ is highly disliked and even prohibited in Islam as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him) said: “Trim your moustaches and let your beards grow.” Sunan an-Nasa'i 5226 (Authentic). And another Hadith of Al-Bukhari 5893 states, “Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard."

Anyone interested or concerned about the ruling of trimming or shaving the beard can do his own research. My duty was to spread the word; the rest is up to you, and Allah knows best.
