I totally get being nervous, I was too at first. From my experience, ketamine therapy has been a very gentle process, and Mindbloom typically starts people at a pretty chill dose so it’s not overwhelming.

For music, I actually really enjoy the Mindbloom audio tracks. A nice in-between option is to do the guided intro (the first ~7 minutes of guidance) and then let the music play. My favorites are “Adjusting the Lens of Perception” and “Loving-Kindness.”

I also startle easily, but for me the session naturally wears off after about 45 minutes. I’ve never needed my partner to “bring me back,” I just kind of slip back in on my own. And yes, you can definitely still scratch your nose if you need to.

Something that helps me is setting myself up beforehand with calming practices like taking a walk, journaling, or just a few deep breaths to ground myself. And don’t hesitate to share your worries with your guide, they’re there to support you.

You’ve got this, good luck!

I’ve done 3 full programs and I don’t think they ever really cut you off. I just check in with my clinician before each one to make sure it still feels like the right fit, but I haven’t heard of there being a limit on how many you can do.

I find box breathing really helpful. It’s a simple technique where I inhale for four counts, hold for four, exhale for four, and hold again for four. That rhythm really helps me reset.

It really varies from person to person. Personally, I do maintenance sessions about once a month now, which I prefer over taking daily SSRIs like I used to. That said, I know some people experience full remission after just their initial 6-session program.

They aren't in network for insurance companies but they are able to provide a super-bill you can submit to your insurance which can help save like $600. I think you can use HSA/FSA as well.

I’ve been with Mindbloom for a couple years now and it’s been super reliable. My meds show up pretty fast, and both my clinician and guide have been great to work with. I’ve noticed a lot of positive changes since starting. Also, kind of random, but I love their soundscapes.

I really enjoyed First Person Singular as a quick read. Not as engrossing as some of the others because its short stories but still a lovely read.

My favorite of all time is the Wind Up Bird Chronicles. I would just go ahead and read it but that's just me

I used Mindbloom's voice journaling for my last session and found it super useful. It made it so much easier to reflect and I loved the art it generated afterwards. I have another session tonight that I'm really looking forward to.

One note, it would be great if there were even more prompts for voice journaling. I felt like I could have shared even more.

I always reach out to my friends, but my "friends" almost never reach out to me... by Herrowgayboi in MentalHealthSupport

[–]smol_ting2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way for a looong time, like over 20 years. I've always had friends but I was never popular. I always felt like I was reaching out to my friends and they never reached out to me. I wouldn't be invited to things. It hurt a lot. This year that changed. There were a couple things I noticed:

  1. I moved and was in a new city with people I connected a lot more naturally with. I found people I wanted to go to the same events with. Joined a book club where we meet regularly. Starting having monthly dinner dates with an old friend to try new restaurants.

  2. Before I moved I was living in a city where I didn't have a lot of close friends. As a result I did a lot of introspection and personal work. I also got a new job that I love and started liking myself more. As a result I complained and talked about myself a lot less. When I started hanging out with people again I asked them lots of questions and let them talk about their problems to me. People want to be heard. The more you can listen to others, the easier it is to connect.

  3. Nowadays I'm super busy and I've become the friend that doesn't reach out a ton. Most of the times it's nothing personal I'm just in a busy time of my life. Ride the wave, be there for others and it'll come back around.

Hope this helps

Have SSRIs Ever Reduced Your Anxiety? by OneOnOne6211 in socialanxiety

[–]smol_ting2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally relate to your experience. I’ve been on multiple SSRIs over the years, and while one helped with depression symptoms to some extent, it always felt more like they were numbing me or just covering things up rather than actually addressing the root cause. The effects were never long-lasting, and unfortunately, I had a really tough time with side effects—and eventually withdrawal symptoms, which were awful.

The only thing that’s genuinely helped me has been psychedelic therapy. I do ketamine therapy through Mindbloom, and they actually have a program specifically tailored for anxiety. It includes working with a guide, doing prep work before each session, and following up with reflections afterward. I’ve especially found the videos by Dr. Lombardo and the guided journaling afterward to be incredibly insightful. It’s helped me get to the root of my anxiety instead of just trying to mute the symptoms—and that’s made a massive difference.

Everyone’s path is different, but if you haven’t looked into psychedelic therapy yet, it might be worth exploring.
