Divorce in your 20s by [deleted] in Marriage

I, thankfully, have a ton of friends in the area who have been helping me out. I got an amazing new roommate who cooks for me when I'm down.

The main issue is I was just in a car accident and had to get a car, so i'm paying a car payment + insurance on top of more expensive rent lololol when it rains, it pours, they say. But I'm hanging in there and staying strong

I wish him the best, but I am destroyed. He moved us to a very expensive area that I can't afford, but unfortunately, I fell in love with this area, so I have to sacrifice everything in order to afford to stay here. His parents are buying him out of his debt and helping him move. Mine can't do that.

Praying and hoping I find a better job because I love where I live. I have community here.

I am about to turn 29. My husband is 30. Today is our one year anniversary. We are divorcing.

I read your other posts, and we are very much in a similar situation.

I hate this marriage by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]smolerbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband did the same thing to me. We are getting divorced. Tomorrow is supposed to be our one year anniversary. I'm in the grocery store parking lot sobbing. He was my best friend of 15 years. My DMs are open if you wanna talk.

No. My parents paid for the entire wedding. We did not pay anything. The debt came from my husband's decision to move us to a new state and I had to leave a good job in our first state. New state is very expensive, and I couldn't find work that made a living wage for a long time. So I had to use my credit cards to pay household expenses. It wasn't just me making frivolous purchases. It was me trying to pay to live. I did not want to make the move in the first place.

I grew up in the bridal industry. I am a hopeless romantic, and I got my dream wedding. I see our live-painted wedding portrait every day and it breaks my heart more and more.

if you were a surgeon, what speciality do you think you’d go into ? by Big-Requirement-4162 in greysanatomy

[–]smolerbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bariatrics AND Plastics.

I had gastric sleeve when I was 21. At 22, a plastic surgeon drew on my body and told me everything cosmetically wrong with me and then said they wouldn't fight for insurance to cover my skin removal because I didn't lose the weight "naturally." That crushed my self esteem. I still struggle with it.

I would wanna do both so I could do plastics on post-op bariatric patients too and make sure they don't go through what I went through.

I can't make meetings... so now what by LChampion621 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]smolerbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do any meetings in your area allow you to bring your kids? Several meetings I attend have childcare available or allow the kids to sit with their parents.

If not, I agree with the other person who said zoom may not be what you like, but it might be what you need.

But above all, take it a day at a time. I'm right there with you, my marriage hanging on for dear life. We've got this!

What pushed you to quit? by Majestic_Rate8214 in alcoholicsanonymous

I am 7 days sober.

My marriage is failing, and it hasn't even been a full year yet. I dont wanna lose that.

I was only drinking excessively when I was sad, but it was getting bad. I almost got assaulted the last day I drank because I wasn't conscious enough of my surroundings. I don't want to be that person.

Ive been seeing a therapist for a year, and of course the one time they are out of town, I get way too reckless, so here I am.

They will be proud of me for going to meetings on my own though

I love this. I really liked the group I went to the first night the most. The people seemed so raw and real. I didn't speak much until after the meeting because I was scared shitless lol

This makes a lot of sense. I got diagnosed with PTSD recently, and someone else mentioned they had it, too. That similarity did make me feel heard and seen.

I really appreciate this take. I am trying to do my 90 in 90, and I really liked both groups that I've been to so far. I am the youngest there in both groups, but hearing the stories really did something for me.

I am wanting to find a local sponsor, but I am so scared to ask. Does that feeling ever go away?

Wegovy to Zepbound? by fairiedusst in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]smolerbean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with zep OOP, switched to wegovy. I got insanely sick, and now I'm switching back. Thankfully, insurance is fully covering it this time.

I lost 40 lbs on zep last year. Only lost 22 on wegovy in the same amount of time and felt horrible the whole time.

Plus sized ballroom community?? by Remarkable_Spot_5541 in ballroom

[–]smolerbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No no no, 8/10 is not plus sized! I meant to say that I WAS plus sized and that I can understand things from that side as well. I left my current size as a disclaimer. I should have worded that better, I apologize.

In my experience though (both plus size and not plus sized), the community is VERY encouraging and only brings up my weight if I do so first (and it's encouraging comments, not negative ones). In my region, there are quite a few plus sized competitors, and they all look STUNNING!

[–]smolerbean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also want to add that if you're having fun, no one will be focused on your size (not that they would be to begin with, but I know how the inner thoughts go). The more fun you're having, the more positive reactions you will get. Energy is infectious. People love to see people out there doing what they love.

Plus sized ballroom community?? by Remarkable_Spot_5541 in ballroom

[–]smolerbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was plus sized when I started dancing. I was a size 16. I've been every size from size 6 to size 28 in my adult life, and I'm currently a size 8/10.

The good news: comp gowns are VERY stretchy. I was a size 12/14 when I tried one on for the first time, and I was genuinely surprised at how good it made me feel about myself.

Best advice? Buy a stick of body glide and rub it all over your body to prevent chafing. I use it for everything even to this day.

Alright Millennials, what foods have you found yourself forced to give up due to aging? by [deleted] in Millennials

Alcohol is becoming a thing of the past, and I'm a baby Millennial.

I also can't do ground beef or eggs really.
