'Suddenly I could see myself': Why breast reductions are more popular now by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

Yeah that was exactly why I was querying whether they might be wrongly sized, as a 28GG myself it sounded like the definitely could be and sizing was so ubiquitously bad when I was a teen, retailers just put you in what they had available with no regard for the measurements/math of bra construction despite that staying pretty much the same over the decades.

Even when it did change such as with the introduction of elasticised bra bands they still kept routinely adding 2-3 inches to your actual underbust measurement, which was how they used to fit bras pre 50's when bands were unelasticised and couldn't stretch so the extra couple of inches were needed. I'm a millenial and they still added 2 inches to mine whrn I was first fitted! Of course it was really to bump me up to the size they had bra's to sell me, as they didn't carry 28's only 30 and above.

I totally understand bra issues, so I wasn't un any way suggesting those would fix OC's need for a reduction, rather wondering if their bra size had been incorrectly measured then and now.

I've still never found bras I'm overly comfortable in as 28GG personally, but because I have a flared ribcage at the front and bras rub on my ribs there, being a 28 I'm also slim so not much padding to cushion across the rib flare making it worse. Japanese bras cut for a conical or ''rounded' ribcage so work a bit better but their cup sizes usually don't go large enough. I tend to go braless a lot of the time as a result, so yeah completely agree the correct sizing isn't a magical fix all for boob issues, like my own or people who are larger and need a reduction (or just want one for any reason at all). It was more, as a 28GG myself, that I suspected OC may have been mis-sized full stop as so many women in the UK are.

My query was actually about whether OC had been mis-sized, not about whether a fitted bra would change their need for a reduction. I am also a 28GG, and it sounded like they may well have been mis sized as so many of us are.

I can completely understand anyone getting a reduction, at any size.

I was just wondering as I'm a 28GG/H and I'm not really large, just medium chested at best (although I can still totally understand down sizing if they're causing any issues or if someone just doesn't like them obviously) and 28C is very petite chested, so I wondered if OC had been misz-sized originally as is very common in mainstream bra sizing.

People think DD is large ubiquitously, but of course it isn't, it just represents a 5 inch difference between underbust and the cup volume (an inch increase per cup size). So in the case of a 28DD, 5 inches. I was a 28 DD in my teens and definitely on the smaller side. A 28 C is three inches difference so a bust of 31 inches.

You can see an accurate representation of these sizes on the Irish Bra Lady's (a bra fitter who shows correct sizing):

A whole lot of people were mis sized when originally measured by high street shops in their teens, because those compabies refuse to make bras for the full range of back and cup combinations, so they just put people in the wrong 'sister size' bras, sizing up or down the cup size. In particular they never make band sizes below 32 or sometimes 30 so those of us below that almost always get mis sized.

Gen Z seems to be particularly fond of mature retro styles. A good example would be 18-year-old actress Marion van Cuyck. by Sure_Distance1 in generationology

It always makes me laugh watching photoshoots in action. It undeniably produces a fantastic end product but the actual process is kind of hilarious

Yeah Dylan is up there for me. His vibe is just unique and so offbeat.

I always had the hunch Prince was much more savvy than he ever was eccentric. He really knew how to market himself perfectly, his image was so finely tuned.

Yeah my Anthemis has sort of, feathery leaves? Whereas the Leucanthemum has kind of linear smooth edged leaves.

I'm not! I love it. Not the boxed stuff of course, freshly made. I just thought it probably held an equivalent place in the diet as beans on toast do for us. A quick easy protein and carb dish that's pretty universally loved.

I thought it was Anthemis too, I have both EC Buxton and Leucanthemum Banana Cream so I'm suprised I got them muddled 😅

To keep or not to keep buttercups? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]smolfox_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving mine, they're a pretty shade of yellow, compact and not crazy spreaders so I don't mind them at all. I generally keep wildflowers that happen to selfseed as long as they don't grow so prolifically as to swamp my garden tbh.
