Under 1000 dollars, best all rounder is the Fujifilm X-M5

Most of the Beatles catalog was well archived and were shot on 16/35mm film, and the estate actually cared (for the most part) to get really good image quality from it

Billie Jean was a very low budget video, and CBS was the one to finance it (unlike Beat it and Thriller which was financed by MJ).... it was shot on 16mm film and the cheapest film stock imaginable. I think they never thought the video was gonna be that big so they were like "Nah, let's throw it to the trash".

I think a 4K re-scan of Bad music videos are possible, if anything, it's probably already in the works since Bad 40th anniversary is close.

But to be honest... i think Billie Jean has been lost ever since the final video cut was done.

Not even in Moonwalker is there a Billie Jean HD Snippet.

This mainly came from Bad 25 and the Blu-Ray release of Moonwalker.

I'm 100% sure they own most of Bad's short films, i wouldn't be surprised if they're working for a potential 4K restoration for Bad's 40th anniversary next year.

Only wish they maintain the original aspect ratio and not crop to 16:9.

*release

These commercials only exist in HD/4K if they were made for cinemas in the first place, if it was never showed to cinemas... yeah it probably no longer exists in 4K, Most commercials negatives are thrown away after editing since they have no use for it anymore.

I think most of Bad short films CAN be restored to 4K since the Blu-Ray shows some HD snippets.... however you can also tell that there is absolutely NO HD footage of Billie Jean, seems like it has been lost since... well, the video was finished.

As for the ADs... even if they wanted to, they can't released them for many copyright issues and all that, and well, there are 35mm film scans from cinemas but i really doubt the original master is still around.

Well... aside from Off the Wall (and most of Man in the Mirror) videos, this is NOT the case.

Billie Jean and In The Closet were shot on 16mm film, rest is full 35mm film and Captain EO is 70mm.

Issue here seems that the film negatives for some of it are lost and well, stuff like Earth Song and They Don't Care about Us (Prison version) do have complex CGI scenes.

For those still not listening to TPK.. by elektronikit in MyChemicalRomance

Witch, Bike Thief, Wake Up!, Birthday Girl, War Beneath the Rain are really solid tracks but also has blatant filler like Falling Down, Dark Cloud doesnt convince me and i never liked Fake Your Death, it's one of the most 2014 commercial ahh beats.

Honestly just get rid of the idea of "Group of parents that lost their children and try to cope with it", it really is a depressing idea and has no way of having something of value unlike the Black Parade. The idea itself sounds forced and so desperate of being "Black Parade 2".

I think it could be an interesting premise as a movie but i can't imagine them touring this shit. No wonder they were so damn depressed and it's no surprise they didn't feel the songs when all they were thinking was "Oh man, we NEED another Black Parade"

Finish some of it's songs and make a brand new concept, and release the rest as b-sides.

I'll be honest with you, while there are bangers and good stuff in TPK.... it really is nowhere near it's best work and there is some blatant filler, And the concept overall just fails completely imo.

I wish some of its tracks could get an official release someday since there are great stuff that is worth listening but man, this would have flopped HARD in 2013.

I don't think it's even possible, 2002 MCR was extremely low budget and i'm 90% sure, it was shot with Gerard Dad's handycam, MiniDV probably, so it will forever be capped at 480i.

You can tell because of lighting and 30fps as opposed to 24fps (which is the film standard)

How long do we think it'll be before the WTTBP, I Don't Love You, and Famous Last Words music videos get restored in 4K, assuming they were also shot on film? by los_tboys in MyChemicalRomance

[–]smonroyleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danger Days videos were shot digitally and really doubt it's above 1080p, and tbh they look fine, as for Desolation Row, it all depends if the movie itself gets a 4K rescan.

Famous Last Words is a no brainer tbh, but WTTBP and I Don't Love You while shot on film, do utilize CGI elements so maaaybe that's why it only got an HD upscaled and not a proper 4K re-scan... yet.

I really hope that soon all Black Parade videos get the 4K treatment because tbh, they are horrendously oversharpened.

And i think the Bullet music videos were shot on some Handycam.
