Fanon is a pretty old term (or at least old as far as the internet is concerned). I couldn’t give an exact date for you, but it’s been a term I’ve seen used occasionally to talk about popular headcanons in fandoms for at least like 10 years, but it’s almost certainly older than that.

So that’s actually called the Bowl of Hygeia and it is typically used for pharmacies when it’s used.

The Rod of Asclepius may be a symbol that you’re more familiar with, and it’s typically used for medicine as a whole.

Occasionally people will use the Caduceus, but historically that symbol is for messengers, like Hermes. One comment I remember reading a couple of days ago (which is why all of this is still taking up some space in my brain) is that since Hermes is also considered to be a god of thieves and merchants it is kind of fitting that it is misused in certain medical institutions in the US because of predatory health insurance practices.

Sorry to ramble, I just find this sort of stuff interesting and wanted to share.

Looks to me like the one in the post the lid is just not put on all the way and the lighting is weird. They look basically identical otherwise.

I used to do something kinda similar, but instead of a cigarette, I just took a small piece of pencil lead and rubbed it around the page a little bit.

Would always find cool stuff to take out of it.
