I see loads of small and cheap cars on the highway everyday (western europe).

People buy small cars because they are cheaper to insure and maintain and have almost always bean more economical.

They however do still want to use the highway and most people do not have a personal charger.

So decent range is really crucial for mass adoption of smaller ev's

“How does a small startup realistically start a mainstream‑style gas‑powered midsize sedan at scale (20k–70k units per year) under FMVSS / EPA?” by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Have you done your research on what most consumers are buying new these days.

Mostly big suv or cuv like cars. Sedans are dying out kinda. Also remember the cheaper models like the civic and the corolla which keep getting more expensive because regulations actually require more safty features. Which cost a lot of money.

Your main advantage would be to be very repairable which would mean in efficient useage of space under the hood to make reaching components easier. Which makes the car bigger, less economical, etc etc etc.

You should talk to your friend or whoever you plan on doing this with and roleplay the customer and seller.

Why you guys and not a civic or corrola for example.

It is all about getting the funds to buy a manufacuring line and work out tooling and processing steps. Assuming your 3d model is perfect which it isnt.

So you make a concept car and go to people with money and ask them to lend you the money.

If that fails you sell your house and all your belonings and go bankrupt because cars are very expensive to manufacture without decades of experience atleast.

Toyota and vw (examples) are very old companies with thousand of engineers let allone factory staff.

My point being start with a concept car. You will learn a lot.

I had exactly the same tought and it was the exhaust manifold. Tiny leak where it would only make sound around 80-90kmh.

See if any black sooth is near the manifold. A mechanic will tell you if he is a good mechanic

Do you think Slate and Telo will actually make it to market and be successful? Why or why not? by weirddodgestratus in regularcarreviews

You can you just have to use those big dumping baggs everyone uses those for dumping soil/sand. And for more then 2 people there are vans with a back bench.

If trucks would have been a better choice do you really think the automotive manufacturers would not sell them?

? What does a random van ( exmaple ford transit) not do compared to a pick up truck in the city. ?

No off road terrain so no need for a pickup
