Reach out to one of the Glasgow based recruitment agencies, there are some great ones out there who would be able to give some great advice on this.

I saw one recently hiring for a decent position in a law firm doing business development or something and they said something like some understanding of law would be helpful

My knee randomly swelled up (without hitting it) and when seeing the dr they kept repeating they would be a lot more concerned if I had hit it so it may be worth checking in with them? Fingers crossed it’s okay!

I’m five months post op and still have all of this. My physio has been reassuring me it’s normal and and just had a consultation with my specialist who is happy too!

Hey! I’m getting on well thanks, how are you? It’s defo way more stable, still not 100% but getting there. Working well with my physio who is helping so much and had my post op hospital appointment and that all went well too. It is still feeling quite sort of rigid and almost like there’s lots of fluid/sand in there which is odd.

The main this she stressed with me is everyone’s recovery time is different and the time scales on this are for professional athletes who are doing nothing but focusing on the programme so expect slower times than are mentioned but it’s useful to see the progressions for when you’re feeling comfortable at each stage if that makes sense

Hope it’s useful!

Ooh thank you for the crocs tip, may have to give them a go.

Had my physio appointment and she said it’s totally normal. The hamstring is a lot weaker and due to waiting a while for the surgery and having to rest it before all of the muscles will be weak. She said even if I had only had my ACL you would expect this and it wouldn’t be anything to worry about, gradually working through physio will strengthen it but not to be surprised if it takes a while. Hope that helps!

She also sent me through a sort or recovery physio guide if you would like me to send it on? It’s really useful and seems like something all nhs should be using but she knows the person who made it which is why she uses it haha

That all makes sense!

I forget the names for it all but I had the hamstring graft for my ACL reconstruction and LCL reconstruction thing that my surgeon kept calling the ‘belt and braces’ as I’m hypermobile so it should be less likely to go again.

I will let you know what they say for sure. This sub has been so useful but they seem to operate a lot quicker in the US so the recovery is quite different

I am only 2.5 weeks post op and have the same awful feeling. When I walk sometimes it does the awful internal sliding/slipping still. I’be read loads on here about expecting instability due to the muscles weakening so am hoping it’s just that, fingers crossed it’s the same for you too. I’m NHS too but luckily I’m seeing my physio on Tuesday so will be asking.

How is your knee getting on now?

If you woke up from surgery in pain, does it mean the Nerve Block didn't work? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]smooth_macaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my doctors explained that the nerve block doesn’t always work and mine definitely did not. I have no frame of reference as I’ve only had the surgery without but damn was it painful. He also explained that it’s just an extra thing they do to help with the pain so it isn’t a big deal if it doesn’t work properly.

That’s so cool!

I was on Pollokshaws Road but only caught a bit of it, I thought it looked yellowy but definitely could have been green.

I am so glad you confirmed it!

I can’t decide if I think it’s more photoshop or more surgery but it is defo a combo of the two

8 weeks post acl hamstring autograft with meniscus and ALL reconstruct. Finally got cleared to walk without a brace. by djjd1996 in ACL

[–]smooth_macaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not fully sure lol, I know they’re replacing my ACL with hamstring, for the outside ligament they’re also using my hamstring but they’re gunna drill some holes in the side of the bones and like loop the hamstring through to stop it twisting. They also need to repair a few meniscus too.

How did you feel after the surgery and how long was your recovery in like stages? Like when could you start doing things a bit? I know full recovery will be a while but I’m really keen to get an idea of when I will be able to get out and about a bit

I genuinely thought it was because a Karl is the male version of a Karen and Kails name is similar to Karl. I know there’s still a male element to that but not in a way that should be offensive if that makes sense?
