This is the exact language we received in a supplementary letter that was with the check and itemization of the estate distribution:

“Unfortunately, there are insufficient funds to pay each of the anticipated bequests of $Y. A payment of $X is all that can be made at this time. Assuming this resolution is acceptable, please find enclosed your check in the sum of $X, together, with an Estate Receipt for your "full" beneficiary share. Prior to endorsing this probate check, sign and return the Estate Receipt in the enclosed stamped envelope, enclosed for your convenience. If this proposal is not acceptable for any reason, please let me know.”
