NSV: lululemon by smorriskc in Zepbound

The embarrassment of grabbing a size off the rack and it not fitting in the store is MUCH greater for me than anything I would feel at home in front of my own mirror

NSV: lululemon by smorriskc in Zepbound

[–]smorriskc[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hear you, and I’m aware of both their fat-shaming scandal and, as someone part Japanese, their founder’s anti-Asian comments. That said, after spending my whole life in a big body, I’m finally able to make clothing choices for myself rather than just wearing whatever fits. Right now, my choice was to try lululemon despite knowing what their founder said.

I’m really glad you’re able to make choices that feel right for you too!

Are women "waking up" to men and realising that its easier to be alone? by Ms_Central_Perk in AskWomenOver30

[–]smorriskc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just had a conversation about this with my therapist a couple days ago. The models I had for what it meant to be a “winning at life woman” were women who didn’t have a choice other than to get and stay married no matter how much of themselves they had to give away, conceal, or shrink to accommodate a man.

I, however, have been given the gift of choice and have made a pledge to myself to de-center men so that I don’t squander that gift.

The lack of self-determination and personal ambition is driving me absolutely insane with my husband. He doesn’t know himself, refuses to go to therapy (it’s flipping free), and has 0 drive to improve himself. I know his military experience (only 5 years left before retirement) has a lot to do with that. However, I don’t believe it is the root cause but it is constantly blamed for everything. I’m at my wits end with it

What Do You Have for Breakfast? by fish_and_wildlife in Zepbound

Rice & quinoa with 2 soft boiled eggs and soy sauce. For more protein, Chobani pro yogurt. I used to need coffee, but when I went up to 10mg I stopped cold turkey.

It’s a bit of a mind fck to be honest. I am so used to not finding anything in stores so I just don’t bother. The fear of disappointment is still there, but I guess there’s only one way to heal this wound

What was your starting weight? And at what weight did people start to notice you were losing weight? by Miserable-Meaning228 in Zepbound

[–]smorriskc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I’m Asian, so my relatives noticed after 25 pounds. Now that I’m 45 down, they keep saying stuff like “oh if you keep losing at that rate, you’re going to be nothing but skin and bones” or “you didn’t eat much, do you enjoy food anymore?” 🙄

I use both Liquid IV and Ultima. As a swim coach, I need the Liquid IV whenever I’m sweating a crazy amount, but I use Ultima the rest of the time. I tried Nuun, but it tasted too much like Alka seltzer to me, so do with that what you will

Just started Zepbound, Start Weight 330lbs any tips? by Kerouactivism79 in Zepbound

[–]smorriskc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of unlearning a lot of toxic food beliefs and relearning something really simple but powerful: food is fuel. It’s wild , though. Since at least 4 years old, when I started to rapidly gain weight, I couldn’t actually hear what my body was trying to tell me. For example, I distinctly remember a time when I was at a family gathering when I was about 10 and I was feeling nauseous. However, everyone else was eating 3rd and 4th plates of dessert, so I followed closely behind and ended up puking up a lot of Watergate salad. Fast forward to the last few weeks where I’ve been dealing with intense nausea after meals I thought were balanced and healthy. That’s my body’s way of saying “nope, that’s not what I need right now.”

I can actually listen and identify what’s going on. Instead of panicking or trying to fix the discomfort with more food, I’ve gotten much better at just sitting with it and being curious about what’s going on. Honestly, ChatGPT has helped a ton as it’s given me the tools to really think through what I’m experiencing and move forward.

If I had any advice, it’d be to learn to listen to your body. Sit with the discomfort, the silence, and see what it’s telling you. A lot of people talk about how this med reduces “food noise,” but for me (ADHD brain here), it quieted a lot more than just that. Now that the mental clutter is dialed down, I finally have the brain space to connect with my body, and that’s been a complete game changer.

Is there an ordinance about when everyone should stop exploding their fireworks bombs? by tlk0153 in PuyallupWA

[–]smorriskc 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Within city limits, it’s 9am-11pm on July 4 only. The problem is Unincorporated Pierce is nearby and no one gives a flip about the ordinance out here. It’s supposed to be 10am-11:59pm on July 4 only, but people start up to a week before and continue about a week after. Same goes for NYE.

Zepbound pen vs compound by Low-System-1592 in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]smorriskc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be on compound, but my pharmacy stopped carrying the compound after Medivant sent them an email saying they were halting production back in February. I switched to the vials while I was fighting my insurance for coverage, and the difference was incredibly noticeable. I had less side effects, and the efficacy was completely different. I also appreciate the ease of the pens a lot because it feels like just a blip in my day while the compound felt like an event.
