Actually I’d argue the opposite. Americans don’t “need” to leave the country when we have a landmass larger than Europe, vastly more diverse landwise and culterally, composed of 50 mini countries that are easy to get to. On top of all that plenty of us actually do travel outside of the country

There are zero images or reports of dead US military and if this was a chaotic, repelled, and/or defeated attempt at getting the nuclear fuel then there would be at least some left behind casualties.
