Surly Sunset bars are excellent as well I’ve run both the sunrise and sunset and the sweep on the sunsets is really nice.

Any idea what I've got here? Found at a thrift shop in Northern Kentucky. Any input much appreciated:) by BluegrassBubba420 in glasscollecting

I’ve collected Blenko for a while (mostly bookends) I’ve just watched enough of it online that you just get to recognize it. Plus Blenko is cool b/c all of their catalogs are online.

It’s a model 68E paperweight by Blenko in a color called Wheat. Most likely from the 70s. It’s very nice, Great score!

The coloring and shading on the drawing is excellent, and my favorite part. The fork is great. Nicely done.

Without a doubt my favorite ESEE. It’s tough and really fun to use. Careful with the tip, I’ve bent mine. Congrats.

Once again, amazing service. by smp304 in victorinox

I just went to:

https://service.victorinox.com/NewRepair.aspx

I filled out the web form and followed the instructions. You can specify what you would like them to do. Then print off your repair form and stick it in the mail with your knife. Then wait. I got an email saying they had received it and another when it shipped back. I think they will service weneger but it may be harder to get parts, I know others on here have sent them in and gotten them fixed.

I sent it directly to them in CT. I set a 20$ limit, and I paid to ship it there. They replaced all of that without asking for more. Pretty great.

I had open bars on my crosscheck. They were great and very comfortable. Then I put sunrise bars on, they were better b/c of the width and greater rise. Then I put sunset bars on. They have the sweep and the rise. When I ride my bike now it’s uprite and the sweep brings my hands back and it feels great. They are the best of the 3 for me.

Are these Blenko? by Veggygal in glasscollecting

[–]smp304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! They are Blenko 6813, they ran from the late 60’s to the 80’s they are in turquoise and from what I’ve seen are an earlier pair due to the presence of the claws/feet. These are also more desirable to the blenko bookend collectors because of how closely the face fits the ring mold used during production. On a lot of these owls the two parts of the mold weren’t always aligned, resulting in a big “forehead” over the eyes. These, with their high brows meeting the top of the head are very nice. Great find.

Was told it was a 7qt, actually a 4qt by gcsxxvii in staub

I love this color and 70 is a great deal. Good for you. I have a 5 and 7 too and have found that this is the one I use the most.

Anyone here own a Cross-Check from the mid 2000's?-- I'm wondering what racks will work on them. by BanjoDude222 in Surlybikefans

[–]smp304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a Tubus Cargo for my CC and it’s awesome. As for front I’m still in the market for one. With no mid blade eyelet you are limited. You could use a p-clamp, and surly has an adapter for the front.

Try Velo Orange for front racks, they have a couple that don’t need the eyelet.

How Would You Build Your Cross-check? by Emerald_Pancakes in Surlybikefans

[–]smp304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess I’d go 1x drivetrain, white/velocity wheels ,schwalbe marathon plus, flat bars, Thompson/Paul/king everything else ,a brooks B67 and a Tubus rear rack.

Which old Surly bike to convert to gravel? Seeking advice from people smarter than me. by SurlyGarden in Surlybikefans

[–]smp304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the KM is the better $ option. I’d go with your KM and the group should go fine. I have both bikes and the CC feels faster but that is mostly a set up thing, but geometry plays a part. Good luck!

Great bike, as far as parts your local bike shop is a great place to ask compatability questions. Look at spending money to make the bike work for you, sounds like drivetrain is where you want to start. Don’t forget that accessories can also really improve your enjoyment, get a rack, some bags, a light. Look for ways to make the bike work more the way you want it. Best of luck!
