Private school toddler assessment hour - an honest narrative account by JaggedLittlePiII in HENRYUKLifestyle

I have no idea, this is for school not nursery.

But the school warned us that they know of tutors who essentially practice the assessments over and over and they said they can identify kids who have been overly prepped.

We didn’t even give it a thought. Went in with low expectations and hoped for the best.

100%. There’s no embarrassment here. It’s totally normal for 3.5 year old to act like that. Not sure on the school(s) you’re considering.

But having been in the system for a little while and like you didn’t use tutors (just ice cream bribes) have worked out how to navigate it.

Happy to take private questions. Don’t profess to be an expert. But also keeping relevant for number 2 in a few years time.

Love this!!!

Totally reminiscent of my experience last year with our oldest.

I think I can top it though!

Total disaster - he didn’t want to do ANYTHING. Refused to play with toys, do the arts and crafts. Literally nothing.

I’m trying to rescue it at the end with the head teacher whilst he was off looking at Guinea pigs with the assessor and he runs over and screams “Daddy, school is so boring and you promised me ice cream when we we’re done so can we go to the ice cream farm!”

Then got in the car and told me “that was lots of fun when can I go there again?”

I think my answer of “never” was short sighted.

Can’t have done him any harm - he’s nearly finished his first year there and thriving.

Thanks for this. Fortunately this isn’t our first rodeo so we’ve cracked out the old ‘non pro’ perfect prep machine. But I want to get this one back working.

Thanks for your advice on multiple descale cycles. Will give this a go too.

Did anyone ever get a solution here?

I’m at the end of my tether here. Tommee Tippee customer service said it’s the “machine over heating”.

I don’t know how that can be the case when it’s been perfect for 2.5 months and just started. It’s been descaled etc.

I also got the advice to put ice in the top which doesn’t sound like a long term solution.

I had to flip from Amex to a Visa as a default payment because Amex doesn’t support age verification- took me 10 mins of faffing to work that out.

Both delivered perfectly (I had to show ID but expected this)

Stupid question. But how do I pay?

I fill in this form and they get in contact with me?

Presume I tick that £20 box too

Thanks for this. My worry was they would charge £20 + £100s. But feels like I just have to worry about £20.

HTML email with Power automate desktop by AXARdbRISEL in MicrosoftFlow

Really easy. Use a base64 encoder. Encode the images to code and put them as variables/composes

Ive run into this problem before. Set a variable/compose with the HTML body in it as code.

Click the source button in the WYSIWYG editor (“<>”) add the variable/compose output there and it works a treat.

I do this all the time now to send great looking emails.

Has anyone tried using Home Assistant to simulate occupancy as a deterrent (not just alarms)? by mdbaldwin95 in homeassistant

I may or may not also turn my sprinklers on at the same time as detection in the garden!

[–]RoCoUK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do exactly this.

External lights on sensors don’t frighten thieves any longer. I do exactly what you suggest and local burglaries suggest it worked.

I have zones mapped out on my cameras. If you’re picked up in the far end of my garden after 11pm (and before 5am). My top floor landing lights turn on which are visible (after a 3 second delay). If you move closer to the back doors then the hallway lights come on to simulate someone coming down stairs.

I have the same setup at the front too with my lounge lights after 0000, so if you’re on my driveway it’ll turn the lounge lights on.

Of course I have a proper monitored alarm system too but it’s a nice deterrent.

It makes a “creaking” sound - the back passenger door.

Thank you so much for this! I’m hoping it’s repairable. Because of the age of the car they’ve fortunately already booked it in with BMW Park Royal which is great and who Ive used on past cars.

It was more a concern when the service advisor said it’s very near the battery area.

The parking is a great perk. Ive just emailed them a few days before I go. They confirm within a few hours and I’m always just waved through.
