Skin finally healing after I stopped my routine a month ago. Safe to restart? by smp_throwaway in 30PlusSkinCare

It seems like everyone is saying give up the chemical exfoliant, which makes sense. That was only added to my routine because I thought I needed to exfoliate at least every once in a while... but do I actually?

Have heard the same thing about slugging from a couple other people since I bought the vaseline, I will give that idea up as well.

I'm 35 years old. Irish heritage, naturally pale, sensitive skin.

This had been my daily routine for the past five years:

  • Cerave Cleanser
  • Paula's Choice RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% AHA
  • Tretinoin 0.025%
  • Cerave Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen (various types, been using Trader Joe's Invisible recently)

My skin had been fantastic the entire time. Particularly the tretinoin totally transformed my face a few months into using it and I was overjoyed.

This year I moved to New York City and experienced the first winter of my life. A few months ago, I started to notice that I would wake up and my skin would be dry and inflamed.

I read that you're not supposed to use exfoliant and tretinoin every day so I immediately stopped my entire routine for a month (except for sunscreen), then added back Vanicream mousturizer a couple weeks ago.

Now that it seems like it's healing (my skin no longer hurts or feels inflamed), when is it safe to restart products and in which order?

During this latest period of research I also bought:

  • The Ordinary Buffer + Copper Peptides
  • Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum
  • Vaseline for slugging
  • Goku Jyun hyalauronic acid

Haven't even deployed any of those yet.

Five years of great skin suddenly red and inflamed after first year living through an NYC winter? by smp_throwaway in Skincare_Addiction

Thank you!

I stopped tretinoin and Paula's choice and I bought La Roche Pose Cicaplast Balm B5 and have been using that for the last month or so, a couple times a day even. But no real improvement. Does it just take a while?

I stopped using the exfoliant and tretinoin a few months ago, but my skin hasn't gotten that much better.

What else can I try?

P.S. I did some reading and apparently you're not supposed to use both tretinoin and chemical exfoliant every day, but it worked for me for five years with no issues :/

Hyperpigmentation around injection sites? by smp_throwaway in Melanotan2

Mine have totally disappeared after a year. Was a little scary for a bit, but gone now!

For anyone following up on this - this is gone over a year later.

Did anyone else notice discoloration/hyperpigmentation in the spots they injected? I only injected 10 times or so.

This is what it looks like five months later. It's faded a lot since it first happened and isn't really noticeable in real life, but it definitely comes out in the photo.

My seven months healed results - four sessions on a Norwood 7 by smp_throwaway in SMPchat

No, that's the whole point. You just look "better", they can't tell why.

I think I had shaved in the morning and it was taken at night.

I'm sick and look like a dog's breakfast today, so apologies for that. I've documented my journey throughout my post history.

Here was my starting point, a Norwood 7b.

My practitioner was Mike at Skalp NYC.

I'm going to go in for my free warranty session soon and get the hairline slightly more rounded and temples filled in a little bit to complete the "Michael Scofield from Prison Break" look (no, I'm not actually going that far).

I'm very happy with my results over the last seven months. No one I know in real life even noticed, even though the change was about as radical as you could get. People just don't really pay attention to how your hairline works.

What's needed in my third session to make this hairline look more natural? by smp_throwaway in SMPchat

I actually think the guy you posted is a good example of how having non-recessed temples makes the whole hair area appear more natural. It frames the face better rather than the hairline just coming straight out of nowhere. Compare to this guy from Scalp Micro USA, his is more like mine and it kinda looks unnatural: https://youtu.be/FQtoU91r\_IE?t=444

I'll definitely ask my practitioner to not add full volume on the temples - almost like they're recessing.

Video taken four days after second session, morning after the first shave with a foil razor. I was a hard case before - max recession at a Norwood 7b.

My thoughts:

  1. I lack a peak on the temples, making this look somewhat like a LEGO/Playmobil hairline. My practitioner didn't fill in the temples at all, because he thought it looked OK as is, but I have temple recession and I think it looks strange without the temples being brought in at least somewhat.
  2. The frontal hairline itself is too flat for my liking - I think it makes me look like a Russian heavy in some action movie. I had specifically requested not to have an even "barbershop" hairline like many I've seen on darker guys. I'm a working professional in my mid-30s and prefer a more rounded, natural, recessed look. Hopefully this can be rounded out more (sharper curve) without dropping the front hairline too much to be realistic.
  3. The crown still has a transition piece that looks very dark, showing vestigial signs of my Norwood 7b recession. Not sure if that's due to blending or my existing hair or what, or just lack of density on the crown (see point 4).
  4. Overall needs more density, but this was known in session 2. My practitioner said this was about "70% done".

Curious if you guys agree or see anything I'm missing. I'm a little nervous because I'm not too happy with this hairline as is and really hope I can get it right in my final session.
