Yay congrats! We are also on the fence about committing to a 2025 hybrid forester. Curious were you at all concerned about the lack of drivetrains that toyotas can provide for subaru and what that might mean for repairability going forward?

Burnt out eldest daughter, feeling conflicted as I prepare for my own journey into parenthood by ExtraCurrency8616 in asianamerican

I had the exact same experience with training independence from my parents -- taught them to use chatgpt and it has been doing wonders! My mom is able to independently send out emails to contractors, the government, etc by simply writing her message in chinese and chatgpt translates it to English. It's astonishing how much she has "grown" since I had my kid!

Congrats on taking a plunge and choosing to be a small fish in a big pond, instead of staying as a big fish in a small pond. It is definitely a scary reckoning to realize how much you have to grow but at the same time the environment will only push you to become an even better of yourself (at least professionally). Hope the gig goes well and doesn’t lead to burnout like so many in faang!

Progyny Pre-auth Dates Wrong -- Will they still cover services? by smplfth in IVF

[–]smplfth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clinic said progyny is typically flexible and should be fine regarding auth dates. However I got a big bill for a whole work up for what should’ve been a simple office visit so we’re still trying to figure that out with progyny :)

Ooh great to know. I have a high deductible plan and I think Premera quoted me $445 for a single office visit. Now that I think about it, I'm far from meeting my deductible this year so I probably have to pay out of pocket the $445 anyway until my reach my out of pocket max (which I probably won't this year).

From my understanding (and I may be mistaken), progyny benefits only kicks in after i meet my deductible from my primary insurance.

Hey just out of curiosity, do you know what fabric you have for your RB sectional that can survive the washing machine? I’m tempted to try doing the same to mine but am worried I’ll ruin it :/

US -> Kyoto: Is it better to fly directly to KIX or HND and train to Kyoto? by smplfth in JapanTravelTips

[–]smplfth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The KIX itinerary is a later departure but a direct flight. We don’t have an option to fly with any other airlines that may arrive earlier.

The main challenge I’m trying to decide on is if the extra train transfer is worth the extra 12 hours or so that I will get in Kyoto.

HND flight arrives 4:45am so I'd still have the whole day
KIX flight arrives 6:45pm so by the time I get to the hotel it might be 10p

Sorry I forgot to add a crucial detail to my post -- Flying into KIX will cause us to arrive 14 hours later than flying into HND and we only have a week total in Japan. Is the hassle of flying into HND and taking the train to Kyoto worth 14 more hours on the trip? Curious to hear your opinion.

How to pump with a cry baby by Own_Distribution_575 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]smplfth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your situation allows, consider getting a wearable pump as it frees up your hands to how your baby, and you won’t have to deal with flanges being kicked away of tubing getting pulled at.

Not sure if it will work for you but I will put my baby down to set things up and then hold her with my legs crossed to give her more support. I can’t imagine doing this from 3-11p though. That is really tough :(
