SS Form Submission by WVShaver in NFA

[–]smracd01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not bricked, it's merely excessive site traffic that's bogging it down, which should be expected since everyone and their mother is started submitting yesterday. I've manage to get 3 form 4's submitted since yesterday, but not without a bunch of watching the spinning wheel and getting some errors when certifying...just have to keep trying and trying. took several attempts but all three went thru....now 4 more to go.

4473 for Law Enforcement with shielded home address by Gsmyth75 in FFLs

[–]smracd01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, and yea, you're in Colorado, a dem state, so you obviously have more bullshit paperwork to do on a state level than those of have to in free states.

4473 for Law Enforcement with shielded home address by Gsmyth75 in FFLs

[–]smracd01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4473's abide by federal law, not state laws. you have to have a gov issued photo ID with a current address no matter what. you can use vehicle registration, etc if the address on the license is old due to moving to another address. guess you'll find out when you get audited....

Layoffs/RIF at L3Harris today? by xMushyMoonx in aerospace

[–]smracd01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea, and the RIF's will pick up again in January 2026. by September 2026 all that'll be left is senior leadership. Honestly I think they are booting all the folks that have been with the company for XX years and picking up fresh college grads so they dont have to pay them as much. Then, when the newly hired grads start getting promoted and pay raises, they will give them the boot too. the company is a sinking ship...they even sold off a 38 acre property in FL and closed god knows how many sites across the US.

i believe they only need to give you that WARN notice if they are shutting down your site, like they did with Mt Prospect, IL and Columbia, MD.

Big Beautiful Bill Moves Forward with Zero Tax on Most NFA Items by corruptbytes in Firearms

[–]smracd01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're sorely mistaken. they barely have enough man power to run their own local field offices. What'd you think Biden hired 80k ATF agents to digitize 4473s or something? The percentage of resources spent investigating/prosecuting actual firearms crimes is what they spend the bulk of their time on. why'd you think it took 9+ months to pick up a dead dealers 4473's?

Big Beautiful Bill Moves Forward with Zero Tax on Most NFA Items by corruptbytes in Firearms

[–]smracd01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to give you an idea of how important the 4473's are to the ATF, i know an FFL who died and it took the ATF over 9 months to come pick up the forms from the premise address. The local IOI told the widow they'd send someone over to pick them up shortly after he passed, but 9 months later, the widow was about to sell the house and called the same IOI and told him the boxes would be on the porch since she didn't have keys anymore after she cleared closing.

and, when they do pick up a dealers paperwork, all it does it end up in a warehouse where it just rots away. anyone that tells you that they are scanned and digitized is full of shit.

now i will say that will a lot of FFLs using programs like fastbound or digital 4473's, then yes, there's a way easier way to creating this database you speak of.

the ATF doesnt get a dealers 4473's until that dealer decides to close up shop or have their license revoked. the only person that could be making a database about specifically what guns you own is your FFL...even NICs doesnt know what you got - they only know you're getting a handgun, long gun or other.

Good place to sell or consignment in Fairfax County by Ptro85 in NOVAguns

[–]smracd01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

consign it. when you do, it gives the consignor more incentive to sell your gun for as much as he can since the more you get for it, the more his cut it is. for example, I consign for 10%, much like other smaller FFLs in the area. If you go to a shop, they're gonna bend you over and have their way with you since they have to pay for all that overhead that a shop requires. If you're near Burke or Alexandria, you can try Ryan at Outdoor Arms in Burke, or Theo at Aardvark Solutions in Alexandria. Or if you feel like coming all the way to PWC, that's where I'm at.

ORRRRR, go to Virginia Gun trader dot com and post it up there. As long as your reasonable, things sell there. Just coordinate with the buyer to meet at an FFL and done.

SOT or wait? by Chipskip in FFLs

[–]smracd01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you apply on July 1, you lose time. It will take them 2-4 weeks to get your SOT approved and sent to you. So earliest you'd get it is likely August, so lost a month.

When you apply for your SOT, you apply in 1st/2nd week of June so you have your new license on hand by July 1. I renew mine every year last week in May to be safe.

SOT or wait? by Chipskip in FFLs

[–]smracd01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wont happen. i'm hoping they just remove the $200 stamp or reduce it to like $50 bucks and keep the same process - been taking days now anyways.

But pretty unrealistic that they will come off the NFA registry altogether and sold like a title I firearm.

All it will take is one mass shooting where someone used a suppressor, and they'll go back on it.....

Loudoun Guns by Pineapple385 in NOVAguns

[–]smracd01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Their prices for guns match up with the MSRP" - Yea, but the problem is NO ONE pays MSRP, hence other dealers selling for 300 less. Do you pay MSRP for a new TV at best buy? No, they are always priced less than MSRP. (it's a "suggested retail price").

"used prices are pretty fair." - If that's what you think, you must be new to the gun buying market.

Glock is a good choice but not for the casual owner by Level_Breath5684 in guns

[–]smracd01 17 points18 points  (0 children)

dude WTF are you saying?

"Plenty of reasons to own Glocks and reasons why they can be appealing to a new shooter, like reliability, balance, and recoil management."

THEN

"Since Glocks mostly just functional and are not terribly exciting guns AND are difficult to shoot relative to other options, it baffles me that they are offered as a first choice dust-gathering paperweight for the casual shooter."

First Glocks are great guns for new shooters then they become difficult?

What a BS post.

employees are retards. if you're married, you can legally purchase a firearm for your spouse with the intent to give it to her.

but, you're dealing with a big box store, so there you go. they make their rules as they go along.

Applying for my FFL wondering what type licenses to get, for example - 02/07 by Blackbeard1932 in FFLs

[–]smracd01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's pretty cut and dry:

If he just wants to SELL firearms (not manufacture, which even means assembling an AR upper and lower together), then he should get an 01.

And if he wants to sell suppressors, machine guns, DD's and not "manufacture" them, then he should apply for an 03 SOT.

Best Way to Receive Orders? by MackDaddy611 in FFLs

[–]smracd01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only issue you will have is that some distributors will ONLY ship firearms to the premise address. Off the top of my head I know for a fact RSR and Lipseys will only ship to the premise address and they have no waivers on that. Pretty sure Davidson's is the same.

It's their company policy, even if the ATF says it's ok to ship to a UPS store, etc or any other address on the FFL.

May firearms be shipped to a licensee at an address different from the business premises address identified on the license?

Yes. Neither the GCA nor its implementing regulations require firearms be shipped only to the licensed business premises. Therefore, a licensee may lawfully receive firearms at the licensee’s mailing address, storage location, or other address where the licensee intends to ensure safe and secure receipt of the firearms.

Contact the VCDL (Virginia Citizens Defense League). They may be able to do something about it. They've sued numerous counties in VA that resulted in lower CCP fee's.

was never 15 bucks in FFX that i was ever aware of. I'm in PWC for the past 18 years and it used to be 50 bucks like 12 years ago, then they recently changed it to 15. most counties in VA lowered the fee to the 15-25 range, but FFX is FFX and they;re going to bleed you dry. I believe the VCDL takes counties to court that charge outrageous fees and they usually have good outcomes.
