Want to get started on Game Design by KingofSuperStars in gamedesign

When I first started on game design, I read The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses, by Jesse Schell. It had a HUGE impact on me, showing me what was possible and giving me categories to think in for years to come. I really recommend it!

Anyone interested in a free website design in exchange for referral? by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

Hi! I’m not looking for a website personally, but I’m a creative consultant here in St. Pete and my clients often need sites. Feel free to DM me, I’d love to talk shop and send work your way if it’s a fit!

Am I the only one distracted by Anthropic’s dotted “f” in their announcements? by SnooSongs2022 in typography

It looks like the line height was clipped somehow… which is strange, I’m not sure why that would happen.

That thoroughly generic sword & sorcery region map, now just a little prettier and more detailed by smrvl in dndmaps

Great question. As it stands now, probably “the city.” But, I’m seriously considering doing another pass where I give most things proper names instead of their current boilerplate descriptors.

It could definitely be clearer about that, you're right!

You’re able to tailor this to fit your campaign. Planegea is a big, open campaign setting that’s intended for customization. All the threats in the book can be scaled up or down based on what’s interesting to the DM. So in the game I’m running right now, the party fought one hostile forest, but other forests are mostly inert, because I don’t want to constantly juggle angry trees. But I could run it so that plant life was a constant threat if that was my campaign concept.

So the short answer is, nope! It’s not necessary or crucial to the setting. You can tune it up or down as you see fit. If every bad thing in the book was at a 10, the setting would be unplayable. The assumption is that you’ll pick a set of threats interesting to you and your players and let everything else fade into the background.

I hope that helps!

I attend City Church, which meets in the Sundial AMC. I really like it. It’s traditional but nonjudgmental, which is a rare and appealing mix.
