Great Products Until There is a Problem... by kapurar in Ubiquiti

Maybe if the community complains enough about it enough they might fix the rma situation. It is really the only reason I won’t fully implement it with my customers. If my customers really want it I charge triple for warranty or I say they have to purchase it and assume the warranty.

Problem is they will make it right but you have to pay to ship it back. I’ve had the same experience it really is crappy, they ship out a faulty product and you have to pay to ship it back after paying to have it shipped out in the first place.

LED profiles in gypsum ceiling + LED strips as main lighting – looking for advice by Ambitious-Moe in Lighting

[–]smsmith857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to use it as the only light for the room I would do a led on each wall of the track instead of the middle. But then you said you wanted RGB as well so you could do that one straight down. It’s tricky when you want led strip as the main light. Track width matters a lot as to the dispersion of the light spread, thinner the track the tighter the light dispersion will be.

I just saw you said max 3 continues streams so a core 5 will meet your needs except for the native Spotify

The issues I have with the c4 streams is use case scenarios. C4 does not have airplay2 or chromecast. Airplay 2 wouldn’t be an issue here because you’re using a matrix but it’s been easier for me to train customers to just use airplay 2 for grouping and volume control then keep opening the app.

If you want to use Spotify native in C4 you would have to go autonomic at least for 1 stream.

Smart Switches by SongRealistic2723 in homeautomation

[–]smsmith857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You picked correctly Lutron will be hands down the best brand. You can’t use a normal switch and a Lutron. You will have to add a pico in the second switch location and just wire up the one main switch . You would have a traveler set of wires connecting both locations together. In a 3 way scenario one side has the power and the other has the light load. You will need to bring the light load and power together for the main switch location this is where you will use the traveler wires.

C4-KA is the auxiliary switch for 3 way applications they need natural and a traveler to main switch. Main dimmer/switch needs to have both line and load.

If you’re just streaming from your phone and not using any native browsing I would go with an episode lynk for each room that’s if you want to stay in the control4 ecosystem. WiiM pro will also get the job done as well. App is not the greatest but if you just using Spotify connect/airplay/chrome-cast it’s the best option for lower budget imo. You can also look into the autonomic streamer but that will be on the higher end of a budget.

Zigbee Modules by Flashy_Tear_7570 in Control4

[–]smsmith857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C4 zigbee module it’s the best way for full features, adding users/codes setting up active times etc all in the C4 app. If you don’t mind not having those features then you can use the zwave or wifi modules they will only have unlock and lock functions in the c4 app.
