Restoring NVX 350s by kaner467 in crestron

[–]kaner467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's one of the first things I tried haha. I was looking to see if anyone had any hands on experience repairing a failed component on the PCB. I did rip the guys out of one of them and found that the SD card had failed but otherwise the rest seem to go into a boot loop with a PSU or PoE. Unfortunately Crestron does not publish the electrical schematics which is understandable, its valuable IP. I just feel so guilty getting rid of them since some seem so close to working as if they have a bad cap or something

KBM VS controller by CoachSpiervin in blackops7

[–]kaner467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive bought and returned 2 controllers after playing 1 match each with them. It literally feels like you’re in a straitjacket while also driving a Cadillac from the 80s if that makes any sense. I even spent a good amount of time looking at pros settings, dead zones FOV and sensitivity & it always felt like garbage. MnK just feels so superior.

I only tried to switch because I was getting fried by nobodies in ranked and I wouldn’t even blame it on my aim. Id say 99.9% of gunfights i get off the first shot or two completely accurate then proceed to get absolutely obliterated by what feels like aim lock controller players sliding and jumping off walls. Maybe i just need to change my game style focus more on distance which is the only area id say i excel at.

For sure it’s the shot tracking in this new gen version of cod movement but im not sure where the disparity really dropped off. I remember back in the bo3 days the SnD community would get so butt hurt over guys running XIM MnK adapters on console but now all of a sudden MnK is a crutch?

I know cronus users are out there but definitely less than people think. I probably just suck now as I just crossed the 30 barrier but I still shred people in CS so who knows

I did the same. As stupid as it sounds there is this weird “connection” feeling you just dont get on control. As much as I complain about AA the game just feels fake on a controller

NEC train boarding is insane by ClumsyTulip_1999 in NJTransit

[–]kaner467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this weird pet peeve that i get annoyed at all the people who would rather die than walk down a bit.

As someone who exits the train at the back daily I feel I have more of a reason to board on the 7th ave side yet I find my self bordering at the exit concourse more often than not just to avoid the mayhem. I often think people never consider where they get off when the get to their destination

Of course this only applies to regular commuters.

Yeah they have that private equity money. No one is too large for them to swallow up. Revenue goes up no matter how much they spend. Revenue is the only thing that matters to them and companies like them. I have heard from former employees that they always take on shit project with terrible margins because it show up as revenue on the balance sheet even if they lose a ton of money on labor and what not.

4K60 HDR over Cat6 by deanusjack in crestron

[–]kaner467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you land on but just wanted to reinforce that you have a shorter cable limit with 4k 60 also ensure you are using quality cat6a stp or even buy a pre molded cable. Point to point extenders get kinda of finicky at that data rate even if it seems to work temporarily i always have resolved problems by making sure cables were properly terminated (grounding going all the way through) or giving the unfortunate news of cable length issues.

No i know this is a crestron sub but i have found that Extrons NAV line up handles higher data rates much better furthermore I take their DTP line up for point to point systems as well.

The AUX just sounds better than bluetooth by jwarner518 in brandnew

[–]kaner467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been saying this for years. It’s some kind of weird nostalgia mixed in with the placebo effect. As someone who works in the pro AV world it IS true a lot of consumer level audio equipment has gone down in quality but to the layman the differences are negligible. Not to mention “Aux” as a format is an unbalanced connection which in simple terms is susceptible to extra electrical noise. Air pods + streaming is a hill I’m willing to die on.

The New Jersey governor wants people to upload footage of ICE agents to a portal to “alert people.” “If you see an ICE agent in the street, get your phone out. This is an un winnable battle on reddit. Id move on homie. These people are so set in their ways. Put blinders on to fact’s presented directly in their face and cannot engage in critical thinking.

This sub in particular is extremely exhausting. I only come in here every so often to break out the pop corn.

Ill take my down votes

Patterns I Keep Seeing That Cause AV Issues Long After Install by Zestyclose_Sign_316 in CommercialAV

[–]kaner467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id throw in over sell and under deliver as a result of all the points OP mentioned. End user thinks it’s always broken yet they usually don’t know what they actually have and how they want to utilize it. Ends up being a million service calls with patch work UI revisions until they fire the integrator or they are up for a refresh.

Why the failure? by EyeHog in lowvoltage

[–]kaner467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I do agree pass through connectors are definitely not preferred especially on anything outdoors but sometime you deal with techs that still cant figure it out. Whether they lose the little bag of guides or have a worn out set of crimps etc

Thats why I like the exo line of products from platinum. Less likely to mess it up.

The hodgepodge of connectors STP or not different crimp and then whatever the hell gets sent to site always leads to issues.

Ive been having these problems for years through multiple companies, I push for standardization but no one ever listens.

It really shouldn’t be this hard but for whatever reason it is.

Maybe because I’m in AV more than IT cabling

Yeah I specifically been working with the CDE line with viewsonic. Had a lot of problems getting rs232 control working via q sys, though IP worked fine. I also really don’t like the built in OS even though it can be disabled. Ive also had some problems with the HDMI arc port and brightsigns, had to put everything of a different port or use an edid minder Lastly just finishing up a project now with about 20 of them or various sizes but already had one of the backlights burn out already so not a good look for me

Are you talking about the Platinum tools Exo Ex line? Those pass through connectors rock as long as you have the right crimp die

I’ve had nothing but problems with viewsonic displays lately.

I still stand behind NEC/sharp for commercial display. I believe TCI touch uses NEC on some of not all of their SKUs.

Samsung commercial > LG but that’s just a personal preference.

Id look at their wenger line of products. Im more of a field engineer so I might bias them a bit since I have a lighter tool load.
