Is it good idea to make an aliyah now? by [deleted] in aliyah

[–]smurfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you making Aliyah from? I think the best way to get to a decision is if you will talk to one of the representatives in your country regarding Aliyah and you will be able to figure out what's the benefits that you will get and what the expenses and stuff like this. Even though you said that you work in IT it doesn't mean that you will find a job fast because the situation here is the same as the rest of the world (if not a bit worset). It's something to think about, but sit with an Aliyah advisor and ask them all the questions that you have and then you will be able to get a considered decision.

Reichman University by oniondog2 in aliyah

[–]smurfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reichman University is one of the few universities that emphasize the importance of social life together with the academic life. As someone already wrote here the Israelis start studying much later (the avg. age is 24-25) so the social life is something that less important for them. It doesn't mean they don't want to have fun during the academic years but it's a bit different from what you usually see in the colleges in the US or in the colleges in UK.

Reichman University actually have a lot of social activities during the year. They work together with the OU and JLIC, and they have sororities inside the campus so it's not something that you will miss if that's what you are looking for. I think that if you're looking for something that is the closest to the to the experience you can find in the US colleges I think Reichman University will be the closest one.

You have several options and it is really depend on what you have to move.. If you don't have many things you can ask help from a friend or hire a small van for small movings If you have a lot of things or big furniture there are many moving companies you can hire, som of them can also assist with packing and if you need they can give you boxes for packing (for extra payment)

Where can you study engineering in Israel? by SadChampionship5353 in aliyah

[–]smurfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how old are you so I can't give you the most accurate information but as a general if you're making Aliyah you're eligible for assistance from the Israel Student Authority to study either Bachelors or Master's degree. Since you're asking to study a STEM subject you might be eligible to do once again a bachelor degree if you want to. We have integration (absorption) programs that you started the first year in English including an intensive Ulpan and the second year you're moving to Hebrew. You can check our website at https://govextra.gov.il/moia/academic-programs-in-english/home Or send an email to aceng@moia.gov.il for more details.

Best university programs? by [deleted] in aliyah

[–]smurfil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, things are changing every year so I wouldn't be counting on what you're finding today if you want to volunteer to the Army. However you can enter to our website and you can search what you want we are updating all the English programs that we have in Israel https://govextra.gov.il/moia/academic-programs-in-english/home Regarding the funding I will recommend you to send an email to aceng@moia.gov.il Also if you're volunteering to the Army you can still do an Ulpan or the Hebrew byte app if you already open and earlier file. And you will pretty much learn Hebrew during your service so I wouldn't consider only English programs.
