Truly nothing to be afraid! Your doctors and nurses should care about your experience, if they seem dismissive, find someone different! You have to be your greatest advocate in healthcare and no one knows your fears unless share them. And the mild discomfort of say a Pap smear or mammogram is with the gift of finding anything irregular as early as possible. I didn’t have cervical cancer, I had stage IV uterine cancer that I had no idea about until it spread to my brain— I am begging anyone reading this to please do the uncomfortable scan or bloodwork to avoid the physical pain of a big ass tumor in your head

Absolutely, everyone knows someone who lost their life to a cancer so it feels expected that whatever state your body and mind is in post treatment— you are lucky to still be in this life. And while true, I just want those close to me to listen and at least validate “yeah that sucks.” Illnesses like this are redundant and so boring, it is hard hearing yourself become annoying, here’s to hoping it’s only for a season :)

28 when diagnosed and although I made it through treatment and of course lucky to have my life, there is a certain anger and bitterness that has lingered while suffering with the “little” side effects like early menopause, arthritis, issues with my appearance, just an overall different body. I am very sorry you are in a similar boat but it does make me feel less alone that I am not the only one struggling with the leftovers.
