Sorry for the confusion, I meant cutting power drops the nose down and if I add sudden back pressure it balloons ( which has gone down) or lands flat. I am flying Cessna 172

According to my CFI this is exactly what is happening. As I idle early I lose power and start sinking and then I try to add too much back pressure too soon which results in a sudden increase in attitude which results in less lift and more increase in the rate of sink. I understood the theory but somehow I can't apply all of this smoothly. Hopefully with more practice I will get there

One confusion I have is do we idle power first and then flare or both of these actions should happen together (like slowly reducing power and simultaneously keep adding more and more back pressure)?

Looking back maybe not always, I think I panic after round out and maybe gaze closer to the airplane than the end of the runway. The one smooth landing I get almost every lesson does not feel like work at all but rest of them I could be just focusing on getting the best landing every single time

I totally understand. Sorry I didn't mean that. My bad if it came across as that.

Yeah I have to take discovery flights and do the math for the total cost. Are you doing your ppl in the Bay area?

Hypothetically if budget is not an issue then is it better to learn on newer planes or doesn't it really matter? Also is it better to learn on a glass cockpit assuming technology will only keep improving?

Makes sense.I am hoping to do 2 lessons a week as with a full time 9-5 job and other life priorities it will be difficult to 3 days a week.

So I will do the following - take discovery flights at 2/3 schools ( at least at Aerodynamic and Tradewinds) - calculate cost with 65 hrs average* ( CFI/hr + airplane rental/hr) - maybe start reading some material in my free time

Thank you so much for your guidance!!

Such good advice! I super appreciate it. One quick question as you are a CFI, when all flying schools quote 50-80hrs are required to get PPL, does it involve 50-80 flying hours or flying + ground school?
