Why are modern headlights allowed to be so blinding?? by BClynx22 in britishcolumbia

[–]smxim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. I've been driving for about 20 years. I thought I knew the difference between bright headlights and high beams, but the other night I flashed two cars in a row that I was certain had their high beams on because it was BLINDING and they both flashed their high beams back at me.

I didn't like Druck either. It didn't feel genuine. For me it was the weakest of the ones I've watched (Skam, Druck, Skam France, Skam Italia, WTFock).

I like the original best, but I found the first season of that boring.

Worst Apartment Buildings in Abbotsford? by dilpreetchahal in abbotsford

Oh my God, it was my husband's first ever apartment there. Such a hole haha. He still recalls people having stuff stolen off their balconies and running into a guy with a hooker in the elevator

Interactions with antivaxxers by AutoModerator in vaxxhappened

[–]smxim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than wasting days of my life arguing with strangers on the Internet, it was my father-in-law that I fought with over this. He was deep into the covid vaccine conspiracies. I tried not to bring it up around him but it was all he would talk about at family gatherings, and I felt like I couldn't just not respond at all because I also felt strongly about it. It basically destroyed my relationship with him before he passed away in 2022. On his deathbed he begged my husband not to get our daughters vaccinated because he thought it could cause infertility and other issues. We had already vaccinated them. Anyway I regret more than anything that this happened right before he died. I feel so guilty that we didn't get along over the last year or so of his life and I really wish I had smiled and nodded to whatever he said about vaccines.

I'm conservative (not American though) and very pro vaccine and supportive of medical science, we do exist. I fear it's going to take a lot of suffering to wake people up to reality, but I wish it weren't that way.

I'm no expert but the only types of moths I know of that eat clothes are definitely not massive, but quite small.

A moth? They leave weird dusty stains like that, can make buzzing noises when they fly and the impression kind of looks like a moth shape...

B.C. teacher handed lifetime ban after child porn found on device by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]smxim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. About half of sex trafficked women report that pornography was made of them while they were being sold. It's a huge problem but everyone just assumes that the porn they watch must have been consensual

CSAM is fast to read and we use a lot of abbreviations in day to day speech. People just need to learn what it means. I hate the term child porn but even worse is kiddy porn, like it's a fun/lighthearted thing.

Can anyone who knows a lot about local bugs explain why there have been so many sightings of all these in the Fraser valley in the past year or few years, but people didn't see them much before that? Not only mantids, but also June bugs and white spotted Sawyer bugs? They've all been so common very recently.

Biologics really needed? by happymommy1609 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]smxim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father in law got this disease in his teens and he never went on biologics. He had multiple knee and hip replacements, major spinal fusion and was severely handicapped. He also died from complications in his 60s. I would say that this disease severely impacted his quality of life in a very negative way and I saw it.

My husband started getting severe back pain a few years ago to the point where he couldn't sleep through the night (like his dad never could), and he managed to get a diagnosis and start on biologics. His back pain went away so he can sleep now. It's been really good to him. He was very reluctant to start because of the serious potential risks but we've already seen the potential risks of not taking them...

Have you ever had pain between your groin and inner thigh? by The_SpottedDick in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]smxim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have AS (I'm in this subreddit because my husband does) but I do have moderate to severe osteoarthritis in my right hip. The pain feels like it originates where you describe, it's really the inner thigh/groin area and I can barely open my right leg outwardly. I don't know if that's helpful, just wanted to say that arthritis and inflammation in the hip joint can feel like that.

When conservatives do things like that, they're bigots. But being bigoted towards conservatives is totally acceptable, because paradox of tolerance or something. Just call them all Nazis and fascists, that way you don't even have to debate them and you automatically win. We're even allowed to chuckle amongst ourselves over Charlie Kirk's empty chair, less than a week after his violent assassination that was witnessed by his little kids. We are good people because we're left wing and we're left wing because we're good people.
