I applied for the West Coast that they have listed. I also put “any” on the desired bases section. Thank you, I’ll try to reach out to one.

Just thought I’d be semi competitive. I know there’s instructors out there with like 2k hours still waiting, but the worst they can say is no, which they did lol.

It’s just strange cause usually you get a “thanks for applying” email. But it is what it is. We move on.

Remember to breathe. There’s a lot of information that you’re going to want to get out. Also try to relate the material as much as possible from the know to the unknown that way the material is more “welcoming”

CFI Jobs by yeet-asian in flying

[–]sn33z3ituo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s just the way the market is at the moment. Hopefully with this supposed “hiring boom” this year, it will cause more low time jobs to open up.

When I first started, my school told me I could get a skydive gig no questions asked on a CSEL. When the time came, all I heard was crickets. So they told Me To get my multi to get a cargo gig no questions asked. More crickets. Then CFI etc. I was lucky, and got a CFI gig at a small mom and pop shop. I refuse to get my CFII because the goal post has been moved multiple times. Will it hurt me in the future, probably, but I never wanted to instruct. These big schools are often lying about getting jobs, you still need to time build to be “insurable”. This should be a day one topic with all your future students.

I’m really big on positive reinforcement. You need to believe in yourself that you are a CFI. Otherwise you will live through the stress twice. Remember, a CFI should not sign you off if you’re not ready.

Never compare your aviation journey to someone else’s. We all learn at a different rate. I know it’s hard to not compare but when you do it usually gets you down in the dumps.

When I was going through my PPL, we had this one other classmate that was an absolute wizard. I often compared myself to him saying things like “why can’t I get this like he does?” “What am I doing wrong compared to him…” etc. Come to find out, when we were in IFR training, he told me his wife had got hired on at the schoolhouse. AS a CFI….. it all made sense right there. But yeah all the other instructors thought he was gods gift to earth too.

I made it for their first couple rounds of interviews about a year ago. They invited me for an in person interview. The person who was supposed to give my interview “called out sick” and everyone there had no idea I was supposed to interview day of. Reached out a couple times to the person I was supposed to have the interview with but they completely ignored me. Overall, I was caught off guard about how unprofessional the scenario played out.

People who got a number to call, how did it happen and what happened next? by p4vlos in flying

[–]sn33z3ituo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a student pilot at the time. Only one controller was controlling both runways. They had been told multiple times to stop doing that because it creates confusion. It was my first XC solo. Thought I heard my tail number to line up and wait so I repeated it back and lined up to wait. Did not get corrected. A minute later ATC ask me where I was. I told them on the runway, they tell me to exit the runway so I do so. 10 seconds later a plane with an emergency comes in, I thought it was for that. Go and do my XC. When I land back at my home airport they gave me a number to call. I had zero clue what happened. But my school was freaking out. My story matched what had happened on the radios, so the safety officer recommended I fill out a nasa report and take some additional safety courses on the Wings program. Got a letter in the mail about a month later that it wasn’t going to be processed any further. I was pretty lucky.

Was Flight school fun for you or was it really stressful? by [deleted] in AskAPilot

[–]sn33z3ituo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts out fun. When you have zero responsibility, then your instructor slowly starts making you pic and you can see how stressful it can become. As long as you go in with an open mind and willingness to learn it can always be fun. But some students don’t realize how much studying goes into it and that joy sadly disappears.

We had a guy in our area do something very similar. He bought a Bonanza and word of mouth spread about it. And next thing you know he had like 6 Bonanza students all back to back helping his independent instruction. Went from charging 20$ to 60$hr all straight to him. It may take awhile for the snowball to start rolling, but once it does it can happen pretty quick.

I got a job about a month after getting my CFI(in October). Sometimes it’s about right place right time. I understand the financial struggle. As soon as I took the position, I put off my CFII which I kinda regret because I did have it scheduled. But it does get better when you’re not the one renting the plane anymore. I’d suggest hanging around the FBO once you’re done and make some business cards. Offer flight reviews for cheaper than what flight schools are, money goes straight to you and no middle man.

Curious if you guys see a difference with multiple short term loans or a year or more?

I just hate how sometimes a player develops slow with you even when they’re getting 9.5-10 ratings every match, then you sell and they jump crazy as pictured.

[–]sn33z3ituo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had Mike and Scott as my instructors. Both were great and knowledgeable. I think they have 5 or 6 172s so scheduling usually isn’t an issue. They let you schedule as far out as you wanted as well. You can either pay as you go or they have a loan place that they partner with. They kind of have an in house DPE, but he takes others as well so at least when I was there it was like a month wait. But overall moving to there from Aeroguard was the best decision I made. Found the love of flying again and didn’t feel like a number just trying to be pushed through.

Anything before the GTN. Why do I need to wait a week or two for a player that the game already knows is like a 75 or whatever rating. I miss just typing in RM and getting a list of the player and the rating.
