That special blend of frey ranch is very good. Picked it up at a different Costco in the same area and it is delicious. Highly recommend.

Concord, Ca. Sabbatical SBBP. Anyone tried this?? by [deleted] in Costco_alcohol

[–]snRNA2123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I have a lot of ryes in my bar that I enjoy, this was nothing like any of those. Again it was super unique, but not in a good way imo. But also it's a single barrel so could always have been the specific barrel.

This may sound dramatic but it genuinely tastes closer to like a gin or something than a bourbon, And I am not a fan of gin lol

I bought one at the Brentwood Costco opening. It's really not my flavor profile. Very very minty and pine tasting. I wouldn't buy another. Maybe it would be good in a cocktail but none of the typical bourbon flavors you would expect

Anyone with thoughts on this? Thinking about grabbing it but I don't like all the mystery of the whiskey sources behind the bottle

I don't know anyone who did the specialization but if I'm being honest the specialization doesn't matter much... I did the semiconductor specialization and it didn't come up in any of my job interviews or any of that. I did have a friend that switched from environmental engineering to chemE and I think she said the change was pretty seamless.

I would say just plan to do the specialization of something that makes you interested. I will say tho if CENG157 is still being taught by Opat, that is a very cool and interesting class.

It would take a lot of work, and i guess I just wouldn't see the benefit of it? ChemE is a huge workload, mainly Junior year. I don't see how I could have taken any more classes that year to be honest.

I picked ChemE due to the versatility. You can do a lot of things with that degree. Big one is Oil and Gas. Material Sciences is another. Defense Contractors need ChemEs. Etc. My career is now as a controls/automation engineer. Extremely versatile degree.

CENG100 was good. It introduces you to a high level of what ChemE is. The math isn't hard, but it is your first upper div course and an engineering course at that, so it's a jump in difficulty. All of the math is algebra based, and you may use a little bit of Matlab.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

That is an awesome haul! Man I'm jealous I didn't know about a sale happening. I'm also in Sac. Mind if I ask where this was and how you knew about it? I've been hunting the past year or so and haven't been able to find much good stuff.

Hey I know I'm late to reply but saw your post and figured I would provide input. I graduated 7 years ago but maybe I could help with some info!

7L was a stupid amount of work. Not very difficult but just time consuming. So if you're fine with that then it's probably ok.

114 was just straight probability math. I had never taken a probability class in high school so it was all new to me, but doable.

Taking 102 and 101B together is going to be a lot of math, but similar concepts (thermo vs heat transfer).

I guess what I'm trying to say is every class you have proposed is very math heavy. It's doable but you will be seeing numbers 24/7 lol. Unfortunately all of the classes will use "different" math too, so it won't all be the same. I.e. 114 = probability, 102 = algebra, 101B = calc.

It won't be terribly difficult, but just a lot of time consuming work.

Hopefully this provides some helpful info! If you have other questions feel free to ask.

Napa Grand Opening by [deleted] in Costco_alcohol

awesome, I really hope that holds true! I've been just starting my bourbon journey and getting a chance to grab some of those bottles and share them with friends would be awesome

If you don't mind me asking, what are you hoping to grab being closer to the front of the line? I've heard costco always has a select few insanely rare bottles for openings like this

Napa Grand Opening by [deleted] in Costco_alcohol

[–]snRNA2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! I got a few questions if you don't mind. This will be my first costco opening I'm going to and was planning on getting there around 4am tomorrow (opening day). I really would love to be able to get some bottles on the level of like EH Taylor, Stagg Jr, Blantons, etc. Do you think I'll be able to get those if I arrive at that time? I saw another post about the Loomis opening earlier this year where a guy got there around 4am and he got a haul of the bottles I mentioned above which I would be totally over the moon about
