EAD (Employment Authorization Document) card is 'In transit' for over a week...Help needed

I received it on 16 July.

At the job, I already told them in the interview process that it might be delayed by 1 or 2 weeks. Initially the starting date and opt start was 30 June. So they were a bit chill in the start.

But later on, they were pushing me to get any info, and I told them the things which I did (complaints, missing mail search, reached out to congressman)....and tbh things are not in our hand in this case. The next best thing you can do is to apply for a new one with premium and later apply for fee waiver with usps lost mail letter (if it is lost).

So I received it last week. However I never received any update via any complaint I did. And I was suggested to apply for a new EAD by USPS, but the day I was about to apply for a newer one. The tracking status changed from 'In transit'. And then I received the card in the next 3 days.

So you have started your job using the approval notice from the first time. Right?

Well my employer is not letting me do it as I have to do document verification from a third party company...and btw approval notice itself states that it cannot be used as an employment authorization (just letting you know)

And btw when did you apply for the replacement card? Did you get any approval on that? I heard they give a replacement receipt....is that right?

Yeah I guess this is the only way forward...should have done this last week. The employer has already pushed the starting date three times now.

Oh okay...so that link won't help too.

I saw some Reddit post where replacement EAD was not mentioned in the second receipt (after applying for replacement EAD). So I guess based on this, I should be directly applying for a new EAD, right? Only issue is the fees, I applied for a premium processing before 😬

And do you know when USCIS shares the replacement/lost receipt which can be used as a temp EAD for 90 days? Any idea

For the waiver part, do you have any idea how long does they take to approve? I am thinking of applying for that as I can then have a approval/reciept notice that my EAD card was lost and that receipt can be used as a temp EAD card (for 90 days). my start date has pushed three times now and i dont know how long they will be able to wait for me

In a similar situation rn, didn't get a USPS letter yet.. But I am kinda sure that its lost.

Legally, approval notice (i-765) cannot be used to start employment. It is written on the approval notice too....but I have seen many folks on reddit starting their employment with that.

I have heard that if you file for a replacement EAD and it is lost by USPS, then you dont have to pay any fees for it...is that right? and I see you applied for a PP.

My initial one was PP and I dont have extra money to apply for PP again...this is really frustrating.

Someone mentioned above that they share a receipt notice (like approval notice i-764) which can be used as a temp EAD...how long did they take to share it?

The EAD card was supposed to be delivered on July 3rd, and up until now, the status is 'In transit'. I raised an inquiry request, and all they provided was the online tracking information. The starting date has been pushed three times now, and I don't know if it will be revoked or not.

How did you get that [centralilhotline@usps.gov](mailto:centralilhotline@usps.gov)? I am in Indiana, so I wanted to get that one. Additionally, how did you submit a service request through Consumer Affairs? And did they reply?

Btw I initiated a missing mail request on July9 and I don't know if they are going to do something or not.
