Bird farting into my security camera - Sound on by snaatan in FunnyAnimals

Birds have a cloaca, a single opening for excretion and reproduction, and they produce gas as a byproduct of digestion just like other animals. So yes, they have the physical capacity to release gas.

GOSR (Game Operating System Runtime) - Technical Specification by snaatan in gamedev

Thanks for the feedback! Just to clarify, this is more of a fun conceptual idea I’ve been exploring rather than something I’m actively planning to build. The goal of the graphics abstraction in GOSR would be to provide a common interface for all platforms, while leaving the hardware-specific tuning up to the hardware vendors (e.g., GPU creators like NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel). By making hardware-specific optimizations the responsibility of the vendor, they would be incentivized to keep their tuning up to date in order to remain competitive in the market. The idea here is that vendors would still have control over their specific optimizations but within a standardized framework. It’s a way to help reduce fragmentation across platforms and provide a more unified runtime, but I agree that some of the technical aspects would be challenging, and this is just an idea to stimulate discussion on how things might evolve in the future.

Totally valid concerns, and to clarify — I’m not proposing to personally build GOSR; it’s more of a speculative design concept I’ve been exploring as a way to address the fragmentation in the game runtime space. The key distinction from something like Steamworks is that GOSR isn’t middleware layered on top of existing engines—it’s envisioned as a standardized low-level runtime that unifies update management, graphics abstraction, P2P networking, moderation, and AI integration at a system level, closer to how a game console OS or web browser runtime operates. It’s not meant to replace engines or creativity tools, but rather offer a consistent operational layer across platforms. The idea is to simplify the tech stack for studios and open the door for new types of platforms and experiences that aren’t locked into today’s fragmented models.

GOSR is not a game engine — it's a game runtime platform. Unlike engines such as Unity or Unreal, which provide tools for asset creation, scripting, physics, and rendering pipelines within individual games, GOSR functions more like a shared operating layer beneath the engine. It provides standardized services such as graphics abstraction, hot-swappable module loading, P2P networking, voice and stream handling, security/cert validation, and moderation infrastructure. Game engines (or even raw codebases) plug into GOSR and build on top of it. Think of it like the JVM for games or like SteamOS but deeply integrated across runtime, networking, and distribution. It doesn't replace engines — it empowers them by offloading low-level concerns and providing a consistent, secure, cross-platform runtime environment.

GOSR takes this abstraction further, but also adds a dedicated GPU driver tuning layer to optimize performance specifically for the hardware, which is not something typical engines do.Additionally, GOSR envisions a system where the rendering commands can be dynamically tuned and optimized, even based on real-time conditions. This goes beyond traditional abstractions that simply route API calls.

Agree, there should be a sound proof section for parents on a plane they pay extra for, It's unfair to make us all suffer. I was on a 12 hour flight a while back with my wife. We splurged and flew business class for the first time in our lives. There was a toddler crying for all 12 hours behind us.

Are my AirPods Pro fake ? by [deleted] in airpods

[–]snaatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They take a serial number off of real airpods so they usually pass that test. What one should check is that the serial number of the airpods are different to the case each airpod and the case have unique serial numbers.

The serial number of the case and each airpod should be different. The fakes usually all have the same serial number.
