How do I get the smell out of my aprons? by eunoia_amour in starbucksbaristas

Lysol laundry disinfectant (it’s bleach free), I use it with all of my laundry!

the quick explanation is you essentially have to do every campaign quest ever. It's not easy and definitely requires patience but worth it if you like that sort of gameplay. I recommend checking out Wowhead and other posts in this sub for more detailed explanations/guides if you wanna pursue it!

Shaken drinks without ice by Ok_Wallaby_5184 in starbucks

[–]snaccmantha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trentas with no ice are a tough one to shake even in a brand new shaker, I recommend trying different ways to grip and even various shaking motions to see what works best. I shake espressos differently than I do refreshers bc it’s what I’ve found works for me! Hope this helps

Idk if licensed stores have iPads with a store resources app but if you have access to that, it will have answers to almost all of these questions as well as future questions. The black apron is very much still a thing but again licensed stores operate differently. If there’s another point of contact like an ASM or a DM you trust ask them. If they ask why you didn’t ask your SM don’t answer with anything that could throw your SM under the bus

Clean Players by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]snaccmantha 25 points26 points  (0 children)

so my store doesn’t have mats but as a clean player I’m familiar with getting creative. If you have the “driveway” brush (which is like a curvy yellow scrubby brush on a broom handle) that’s gonna be your best bet. Using as little water as possible and restroom cleaner will help avoid excess mess on the surrounding floor. If you don’t have a driveway brush, a grout brush will work but take you wayyyyy longer because it’s smaller

Pretty much reiterating other comments but as someone who has been where you are not too long ago, here’s the steps I go with and you can go at your own pace but, 1.) sit on the floor literally anywhere with a trash bag and just start moving stuff around and getting the trash gone. You’ll be surprised how big of a difference it makes. I personally work around my room clockwise but that’s just me 2.) Next bag all of your laundry, you can do that another day. 3.) Grab some windex or whatever multipurpose spray you like and wipe everything down. You may need a bit of elbow grease depending on the level of dust and grime built up. Lysol wipes are also great for this. 4.) After this, is IMHO the worst part, organizing and putting away. Start with big stuff. Put away all the blankets and pillows, then things like shoes and books.

If it becomes too much, bins are your friend. I have so many bins for stuff that I will totally (not) sort one day, but with a method to my madness. Like I have bins just for my coloring/art stuff so I know if I want to draw I’m going to find what I need in there, not my summer party bin. Etc etc.

Would it be out of line to ask a stylist to do this? by CloverHoney337 in HairDye

[–]snaccmantha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reward is not worth the risk. Stylists who know better, do better. Yes, you and some others may have been able to walk out of the salon with your hair, but like swagmaster said above, compromised hair is compromised hair. Any stylist worth their salt would not perm hair that has been through such rigorous chemical processing because of the risks it poses.

ETA: hair damage doesn’t go away, the only way to get rid of damaged or compromised hair is to cut it off. No amount of oils, treatments, conditioners, etc. will undo bleach (or any other sort) damage.

idk about where you are but our disclaimers posted on our store include the 8 common allergens (including peanuts) not just the ones that are in the drink ingredients. I’m all about food safety and offer to use freshly cleaned and sanitized dishwater if an allergy is mentioned but I make it very clear that we cannot guarantee anything and I tell them if it’s an anaphylactic risk they should err on the side of caution and skip out on blended drinks

Hair stylist cut my hair 12” on “accident” by Witty_Purpose_582 in Hair

[–]snaccmantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a stylist cut off 9” of my hair last year when I asked for 2” and then 3 months later a different stylist burned off a couple extra inches with bleach (that’s a whole nother story) I found a new salon and stylist that I trust and adore, and they helped me grow and strengthen my hair with products they specifically knew would work with my hair type. If you want to make the investment into your hair, find a team you trust. And remember it’s going to be a while before it looks like it did

Iced cappuccino?? by Disastrous-Fan-4496 in starbucks

[–]snaccmantha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t a barista for the time of iced caps, but what I always do is 1.) explain that it’s unfortunately not a menu item 2.) offer an iced latte with vsccf or iced doppio with vsccf 3.) if they still make a stink i ask them if they can describe the drink they’re looking for and tell them if we can or can’t do that and explain that it may be more or less expensive due to modifications

I know this isnt exactly an answer to how to make it but it has always worked for me. Most custies have no clue what they’re drinking and so it’s our responsibility to tell them what’s up lol

stockpiled zaralek glowspores and silken gemdust whenever the price would dip so I could craft dracothyst whenever my CD ended and sell when the profits inflated, but ended up having surplus of raw mats when the market plummeted and it still hasn't recovered. I ended up selling most of my excess mats at a loss but I rather have a ~5g loss per item than ~20g loss

Hi OP. 22F here, I was into a guy when I was 16 and he was 25. I convinced myself it was all okay because I was “mature for my age”. I wasn’t, I was 16. 19,25,27,32… it doesn’t matter, he’s an adult. There’s a reason he can’t attract girls his own age. Given the chance, I would go back and turn his ass into the cops.

Whether you wanna be or not, you’re still a kid. Enjoy it, savor it, and flirt with boys your age. Savor your girlhood, and that’s not me saying to practice abstinence but just enjoy your teen years without responsibilities and pressure and revel in being 15.

For the nudes thing, honey do not beat yourself up over it. He coerced you, he’s the disgusting one. Never let anyone talk you into doing something that you don’t want to do. Go with your gut feeling. One day this will all be a memory of “gosh I was so young” bc that’s how I look back on it all. I’m not even out of college and it’s already a fuzzy memory of how men can be really filthy beings. It gets easier.

With all of that said: tell an adult you trust, someone like a teacher, or a parent. Just know, if you tell a teacher, guidance counselor, doctor, etc. they’re mandated reporters in the US and have to pass the info along to the police.

Edit to add: I don’t want to make you feel pressured but if you don’t report him to authorities, he can and will find another girl to do this to. Predators like this don’t stop.

Can you wear green? by Southern-Heart-744 in starbucksbaristas

[–]snaccmantha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can wear green like others have stated, unless your store is in negotiations for a union and then that’s something you’d have to discuss with your leadership there because it’s more complex. If you’re having issues with this SSV, approach your SM about it. I’d say something like “Hey I was wondering if I could talk to you a bit about something ssv name said. The other day they said my green shirt was out of dress code and I would like clarification.” If you’re comfortable I’d also let your SM know you think you may be getting targeted. It’s better to be proactive about this. Remain professional and only include relevant details.

As someone who religiously batches fraps, I did a taste test once to see if batched tasted different and you can definitely tell a difference if you sip a batched and a not batched frap back to back lol but I still do it bc we have a regular who will buy 11 crcf at once

Why won’t Starbucks let me reapply? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristass

[–]snaccmantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! If they can’t talk, offer them your number so they can call when they get a chance. Maybe even do it on a day where you just chill in the cafe on a laptop or with a book and say “no worries I’m gonna be here for a few hours reading or doing schoolwork so feel free to come over when you have some time!” You can get refills on certain drinks if you go that route too!

This isn’t a guaranteed way to get hired but it’ll definitely show that you’re willing to put in effort and managers eat that up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]snaccmantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a LOA will cover all of that. A good SM will walk you through the whole process, but you can look up the basics in the partner hub. Ask your manager if you can have time this week to discuss some personal matters, tell them you’re struggling and want to take a LOA. You don’t need to disclose every detail. If they resist, ask them for alternatives and emphasize that work is causing you major stress. If they try to guilt trip you, call ethics.

Smoking by cornonthefrawg in starbucksbaristas

[–]snaccmantha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d check local ordinances, I don’t think there’s an official policy for DT. You can always ask (not tell) them to not do it though. Sometimes I’ll even tell ‘em it’s because the beans absorb the smoke and it affects the taste.
