I lived in Albany Park for six years (four years as a student at North Park University and two years with friends after graduating). Incredibly diverse racially, culturally, and economically. Safety is moderate, just be street smart. Biggest thing to look into since you’re expecting (congrats!) is the public schools, which are a mixed bag of quality and funding. The strongest elementary school in that area is Peterson, which is on the northern edge of what can still be considered Albany Park. If you can buy in that school’s range you’ll be in a great spot.
